Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to 2 external links on Worcester. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:

Transport Section

Re. Worcestershire Parkway and the comment about Cross Country trains uniquely not stopping at any stations in the county at present; this isn't strictly true, as services between Banbury and Oxford briefly pass through Northamptonshire without any stops (King's Sutton being the sole station in Northants on that particular route, but only Great Western and Chiltern stopping trains call there). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:630:301:1140:A17C:2201:3476:50C3 (talk) 13:35, 8 February 2016 (UTC)

Done. Not a travel guide so not needed.Charles (talk) 14:01, 8 February 2016 (UTC)

Infobox spacing

Re [1] - I've added infobox spacing as it makes the sections alot easier to edit and it makes it less confusing for the newbies (I've seen many new editors accidentally edit the wrong parts because they were abit confused, This setup has been used on thousands of articles by many different editors and there's never been a problem as far as I know so I don't really see any issue with it here, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 16:49, 29 August 2016 (UTC)

Big Faced Boy

I saw the warning against posting content on this topic. Now I'm intrigued. What is the Big Faced Boy? A local legend? Perhaps I can assist with some in-depth research. It's the sort of thing I'm interested in. I found some references to a local band with this name, but perhaps that's not what's at issue here. Regards, BuzzWeiser196 (talk) 15:09, 25 November 2018 (UTC)

Yes they seem to be quite famous. So maybe that is the issue. Fans can get a bit unruly, can't they?
I don't have a hugely strong opinion but it sounds like a good idea to have something about them if they're connected; but are they notable for their own page, and if not, how much attention do they merit on the Worcester page? Jim Killock (talk) 23:05, 26 November 2018 (UTC)

Happiest place to live

On Escape to the Country on 5 September 2019, Jonnie Irwin said Worcester is the happiest place to live in the United Kingdom. If any one can find a reliable source for this claim, it would make an interesting addition to the article. Vorbee (talk) 15:09, 5 September 2019 (UTC)

History section

I am working on the history section, going through public sources (primarily articles on British History Online). The current section is quite weak in my view, missing a great deal that ought to be important to an overview. Within the medieval period for instance, the fact of the city burning down four times in a century, for instance, was missing, and it contained no information about medieval monasteries or hospitals. Still absent is information about the formal incorporation of the city and guilds from this period.

However, it may also be that the section grows to a point that it will need moving off to a separate article. I will continue to add things gradually but please do let me know if or when it gets to a point that it needs moving to a new article.Jim Killock (talk) 06:50, 22 May 2018 (UTC)

JimKillock, there's a long way to go yet before the page reaches a theoretical maximum size. Rule of thumb: see Malvern, Worcestershire. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 09:30, 22 May 2018 (UTC)
Still missing from 900-1660: church and monastic history, St Oswald, St Wulfstan; dissolution; civil war history; more on glove and cloth trades. Later periods also need work. But hopefully what's there is a bit more useful, if derived mostly from 2-3 parts of VCH. Jim Killock (talk) 20:41, 25 May 2018 (UTC)
I was just coming here to discuss this exact thing. The section has been greatly expanded to the point that History of Worcester is looking to be a good idea. violet/riga [talk] 23:38, 26 May 2018 (UTC)
I'm sure you are right, or soon will be. It's been easiest for me to collate information relevant to Wikipedia in one go, and then leave it to be cut down once all the main points are there. For instance, the anti-Jewish pogrom feels very relevant (events like this should not be expunged from memory) but I did not know about it before reading up on it. An alternative approach may be for me at this point to split the page off, and then start cutting the Worcester page's version down. Jim Killock (talk) 10:25, 27 May 2018 (UTC)
I have taken the plunge and copied the content to History of Worcester, and taken a small amount of content from the current page. Meanwhile I have also been working on the related History of Worcestershire, which was in a terrible state. It's not right yet but maybe 30-40% done. The history of Worcester section and page still have some gaps.
@Violetriga:, @Kudpung: and others, I have been cutting this section back – thoughts welcome as to what else might be cut. I've also continued to expand the History of Worcester and History of Worcestershire pages Jim Killock (talk) 19:00, 21 December 2020 (UTC)
