Championship status of this match appears doubtful
editWhile the sources cited doubtlessly claim championship status, they are quite late, and misinterpretations may have sneaked in between 1889 and date of their writing. The page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilhelm_Steinitz) presents a somewhat different picture of the match. (It doesn't follow its own sources fully, though.).
