Error in the rules
editThe sentence "The match was of twenty games; the first player to score 10 ½ or win ten games would win the Championship. In the event of a 10-10 tie, the players would continue until one had won ten games. If it reached a draw of nine games each, Steinitz would retain the title." is obviously wrong: First of all, 23 games were played and Steinitz scored 12.5 - so there was neither a limit to 20 games nor a limit to 10.5 points. Second: if a 9-9 draw was sufficient for Steinitz to keep his title, then 9-8 (which was the status before the last game) would have been suffient for Steinitz with no need to continue. In the German book Umkämpfte Krone (see references in German Wikipedia) it just says "win ten games" - nothing about a limit to 20 games. Reilinger (talk) 21:01, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
