- According to Emporis, the original building was the World Trade Centre, and the proposed redevelopment using the frame of the bomb-damaged old building to make three new offices was to be known as World Trade Centre London. Then 9/11 happened and they scrapped the idea of WTCL, with the WTC being reclad to become Hilton London Canary Wharf. They were also going to build two new office buildings, WTCL Four on the site of the destroyed South Quay Plaza Phase One (which after 9/11 changed to the residential Discovery Dock East) and WTCL Five (now Four and Five South Quay Square).82.20.52.30 (talk) 09:15, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
Not a full account, even if what it says is correct
editWhat certainly is correct, as testified by sources both in print and online, is that the World Trade Centre in London was established in 1968 at St. Katherine's Dock, apparently as part of that dock's redevelopment as a marina. It occupied a new office building, which apparently replaced a demolished warehouse. See this and this for some further details. Harfarhs (talk) 00:39, 17 August 2024 (UTC)
