Separate estimates for Western and Eastern theaters?

Are there established, separate estimates available for the total (and country-specific) deaths that occurred on the Western theater (Europe+Western USSR, Africa, Atlantic etc) and the Eastern one (Eastern part of Asia, Pacific, etc)? -- 91.14.130.117 (talk) 13:22, 7 February 2015 (UTC)

There are no established estimates available for the total casualties in World War II. The statistics in the published reliable sources are divergent and contradictory. For example in the case of Germany the German Red Cross puts the total German military dead and missing at 4.3 million, however the study by Overmans estimated actual losses were 5.3 million. For the Soviet Union the total losses in the war are currently debated in Russia, the official figure for military dead and missing is 8.7 million, however this figure is disputed by some historians who point out that the database of the MOD Archives contains the names of 14 million dead and missing military personnel. The footnotes in this article outline these differences and cite their sources. On Wikipedia it is not our job as editors to decide the correct figures for casualties in World War II. Chart - World War II military deaths in Europe by front and by year

Regarding the Western Front Losses, the Chart its a little bit misleading. By a vast number of resons, for example if we consider the Italian Casualties(0.22) this means the North Afrikan Campaing (DAK & British Emp. losses) should be included as well. The same for Norway(Western Front), and its still a bit contradictory. Does the Presence of Greek Losses should really deserve to be included?, remember that Greek its Geographically on the Eastern Front.And if we include GReek Losses we should include German Losses in the Balkans and that means we should include Yugoslavian Losses using the same criteria, and guess what? Yugoslavian Losses are already included in the Eastern Front. You got my point? But for a sort of Reasons they are included there. Dont know if this its Ok, but if we want to go forward with this criteria, Norway Losses should be included as well as all North Afrikan Campaign dead, this means in short:Axis:: All Italian losses minus the losses suffered in the Eastern Front + German Losses in Western Front & Desert campaign in one side and Allies':British Empire Losses by this theathers (UK+Western Front+Sicily+Italy+Desert+GreeceCrete+Norway)+South Afrikan Losses+Canadian Losses + U.S Lossesin Western Front+All French Losses+All Norway Losses+ All Dutch Losses+Polish Losses in Western Front+Italian Soldiers than fought for the Allies at the very end. I doubt Greece was considered part of the Ostfront to the Germans - it is rather to be classed in the Mediterranean Theatre.Cloptonson (talk) 22:21, 12 March 2015 (UTC)
