What about the Big Bill ?

edit

I think Big Bill Broonzy recorded a version entitled "Poor Bill Blues" way before 1941. Could that be the original ? You can hear it on the "Trouble in Mind" album. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ASDLR (talkcontribs) 12:00, 8 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Otis Spann not composer

Major "Big Maceo" Merriweather recorded "Worried Life Blues" June 24, 1941 (Bluebird B 2287/RCA Victor 20-2133). His song had much in common with an earlier song recorded by Sleepy John Estes "Someday Baby Blues" July 9, 1935 (Decca 7279/Champion 50068). Since Otis Spann was born in 1930, he would have had to be five years old when he wrote "Someday Baby/Worried Life." Check out the All Music Guide To The Blues, the Encyclopedia Of The Blues, or bluessearchengine.com.

Big Maceo's "Worried Life Blues" was in the first batch of inductees to the Blues Hall Of Fame "Classics Of Blues Recordings - Singles And Album Tracks" along side "Sweet Home Chicago," "Stormy Monday," "Dust My Broom," and "Hell Hound On My Trail." As of 2008, no other version of "Worried Life Blues," "Someday Baby Blues," " Trouble No More," or other variations on the song have been inducted.
