Is this word exclusively written in katakana, or is the hiragana spelling also correct? Nik42 21:52, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

Using Katakana is exclusively for this kind of otaku (idol otaku = wota). But since a wota is also a Otaku, japanese people just say "ota" for both if "idol otaku" or "otaku anime, etc". Mainly "Wota" is used recently in japanese forums as a stylistic way, and also in foreign websites about female singer idols. --Cbpm 18:56, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

This post is all wrong

ヲタ also refers to a NORMAL otaku, and in japan saying WOTA is most of the times the same as OTAKU. This article was created by a bunch of amateur idols wannabe named "Yumeki". No, this post was all right, now it's wrong.

"Wota" (typed with ヲ) means "idol otaku". オタ芸 "Wotagei" is the "dance". (Gei = art). I hope someone with more criteria can fix this article. The original entry (as created originally) was fully right and precise. Maybe would be necessary to read accurate literature to fix this one, as original entry. The writer(s) of the article has the misconception that "wota" applies only to idol otaku, especially with Morning Musume. Wota = wotagei

Thanks for editing finally this article. Most of American Idol followers name themselves as "wota" but in fact, this word in Japn only applies for those people who are so enthusiastic and obsessed for do wotagei. If you don't do wotagei, you don't have the right to call you "wota". You can check the Japanese version fo Wikipedia for check this situation.
