IRI

edit

it says IRI for second in Freestyle in 1974.... However IRI did not exist in 1974. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:1:a580:151d:60c7:26ce:85b4:c765 (talk) 05:44, 15 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

No. It doesn't say that IRI for second in Freestyle in 1974. It's only a flagicon malfunciton. MeritedMaster (talk) 17:38, 21 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Venue

edit

Venue section of the table is a valuable encyclopedic information. Whether it was an indoor arena or an open-air arena, counts a lot, especially in sports like wrestling, where stamina is a crucial factor. Besides, this practice is used elsewhere in sports-related lists. Also it gives a brief insight on a given event's profile, because low-profile events are not held at the Los Angeles Forum. MeritedMaster (talk) 17:38, 21 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

I have no problem with having venues on the main page but that will make the tables too complicated and ugly, if you insist on adding that, it's better to only keep top 3 in the table and drop the rest. maybe no need to keep ranked 4th to 10th from every single year. Mohsen1248 (talk) 18:29, 21 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
It didn't make tables too complicated and ugly yet. Nobody complained so far except yourself. MeritedMaster (talk) 18:34, 21 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Because nobody else watches this page! don't tell me it doesn't look ugly. there are too many columns for a wiki table. some of them should go. Mohsen1248 (talk) 18:36, 21 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Inception

edit

This here edit's description says that 1956 and 1958 editions were "unofficial events." President of the International Wrestling Federation usually do not visit an "unnoficial event." Restored. MeritedMaster (talk) 17:38, 21 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Cancelled editions

edit

Cancelled editions of any given sports event are always mentioned in the general list with brief description of reasons as to why they were cancelled. Cf. World Judo Championships, World Sambo Championships, etc. MeritedMaster (talk) 17:38, 21 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Are you also going to add all those cancelled World Cups ? specially Women and those from 2020 and 2021 (already cancelled) ? they are too many to be added. Mohsen1248 (talk) 17:57, 21 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Yes. I'm going to add "all those cancelled World Cups" MeritedMaster (talk) 18:20, 21 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Then that's fine, it should be all or none. Mohsen1248 (talk) 18:26, 21 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Protocols

edit

Posting official result books in the table as inline citations doesn't correspond to current style in other related lists of Championships and World Cups. These valuable sources should be sumbitted to the respective articles. Anyone could retrieve them at the following link: [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wrestling_World_Cup&oldid=958772331#References . I remove them from the list. They could be restored in any given time, but should be posted separately in the "External links" section. Regards. MeritedMaster (talk) 17:38, 21 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

it seems I have to copy/paste what I wrote on the IP talk page (who made all these edits) here. there is no place for unsourced random information or unofficial events. and don't remove references from the article.
Hi, I'm going remove those 2 unofficial events without any source, I showed a source here that 1999 edition was number 27th. do you have anything else to prove otherwise ? and there are other sources like this that shows the events started at 1973. there might be some other team vs team events before that but it wasn't recognized by FILA/UWW. beside that putting the host stadium makes the table too complicated. I don't think we can have both complete ranking (from 1st to 10th) and the host stadium. to keep the stadium names it's better to keep only top 3 in the table. I'm fine both ways but you can't just add whatever you want about unofficial and unrecognized events without sources and you certainly can't remove refs from the article as you did. Mohsen1248 (talk) 17:51, 21 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
No, you're not. The sources are provided at the respective pages. If you're not able to read them at the "Sources" section, I'll bring them here:

This is what they called "unrecognized events". MeritedMaster (talk) 18:10, 21 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
I can have a tournament and name it "World Cup" it doesn't make it a World Cup, I already showed several sources that considers 1973 as the first World Cup. is there any sign of those events in UWW databse which covers all official competitions, NO. beside that It seems you just enjoys to write about things that don't exist. there will be no 2020 World Cup. Source Mohsen1248 (talk) 18:15, 21 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Doesn't mean a thing. The FILA President and his staff doesn't go to your backyard tournament. MeritedMaster (talk) 18:18, 21 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
from when someone attending a competition makes it official ? They go to so many tournaments to observe, doesn't make them official. as I said several sources considers 1973 as the first world cup. and FILA/UWW never recognized those former events later. Mohsen1248 (talk) 18:20, 21 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
From the beginning of times. MeritedMaster (talk) 18:23, 21 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
that's interesting, still no 1956 ? but again and again, UWW considers 1973 as the first World Cup, this is a source from UWW itself Source this is UWW itself ! you can write a leading section about 1956 and 1958 and add a link to them, but they should NOT be in the table as they were not official. Mohsen1248 (talk) 18:25, 21 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
You are not the UWW to write what "UWW considers" and what's not. Besides there were no UWW at the time the thing started. It was called "FILA" back then. MeritedMaster (talk) 18:38, 21 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
You don't listen, don't you ? I just showed you a link from UWW which clearly says The Freestyle World Cup was developed in 1973 in the United States.... this is UWW saying, not me. Mohsen1248 (talk) 18:37, 21 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
