As I understand it, in some of the recent contested elections (Coleman v Franken, Minn Senate seat, 2008, for example) there was NO consistency in how an X in a ballot box was re-counted: some as negation, some as affirmation, almost at whim of the individual doing the recount. It seems logical to me to include this symbol in the ones mentioned in the article, as it’s a commonly used symbol in the shape of a cross, and it’s within the 8-bit Unicode range (U+00D7). Casperdewith (talk) 14:20, 8 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
