Gaddesden Place
editSo where is Xara located? Gaddesden Place, UK? Is that a town?--Hhielscher 16:06, 12 October 2005 (UTC)
Why was the named changed to XARA? What is the historical and/or cultural significance of that name? Please feel free to respond to me at: westonhyter@yahoo.com
XARA
editThe name change according to the company website http://www.xara.com/history.asp
Where did the name come from? I saw a girl called Zara on TV and thought that was an unusual name. But decided to make it bit more unusual by putting an X in place of the Z, so a bit like Xerox. This had the benefit of being short, unusual, most importantly trademarkable around the world, and one where we could get the domain name. The downside is that we're always at the end of any alphabetical list!"

Fair use rationale for Image:XaraLogo.png
editImage:XaraLogo.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
FOSS
editHave they ever delivered on their open-source promise? There is no sourcecode available from the xaraextreme website (SVN repo is down) and I cannot find any information anywhere as to whether the code was ever actually 1) released 2) released under a FOSS license.
If not, that section should probably be deleted or it should be noted that they have never followed through on their promises. 88.89.143.64 (talk) 15:26, 24 May 2015 (UTC)
