Xbox 360 elite Gears of War 2 limited edition
fairly rare edition (some say between 25 and 50 made) came out late last year, I won one from Circuit City in the first part of December just before they went belly up. picture of it can be found at http://videogames.techfresh.net/rare-gears-of-war-2-xbox-360-elite-console-reaches-860/
Wireless Adaptor
I think maybe you should list the wireless adaptor under acessories.

250GB HDD?
I've heard speculation that a 250GB HDD for the Xbox 360 was going to be released shortly. I can reference the speculation, but should it be added? --Thatguykalem (talk) 04:16, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

Technical Problems needs more up-to-date information
Releaesd in 2008, the Jasper model has eliminated the RROD problem. This needs to be put in the top of the technical problem section. The problem is in the past.
"Jasper" model was introduced. Since then, first-year failure rates have plummeted to below the 4 percent the company projected."

- We're only at the latter end of 2009, PS3's are failing after about 18 months, its too early to say if a 2008 Xbox board is truly eliminating the problem, it may just be taking longer to die chocobogamermine 23:36, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
The problem is not in the past, Jaspers have the potential to RROD depending on environmental factors and other various factors too. There is no published statistics (By Microsoft) to confirm that the Japsper chips sets are "RROD-proof". If you want to get in an argument against this look at the re-branding of the RROD as error code 74 by the way. I remember when people said the Falcon chipsets were RROD-Proof and we all know what happened from there. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.114.42.133 (talk) 10:43, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
Reformulation needed here
In the section "Technical problems", there is a sentence that needs reformulating:
"Modifications include a reduction in the number, size, and placement of components,"
Reduction in number and in size is correct, but reduction is placement? I don't have many details on that subject so I won't edit that out since I might a mistake. But I'll leave this message so someone changes it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 132.203.61.111 (talk) 22:00, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
- looks like you may be right mate, it sort of reads ok, but could be better like "Modifications include a reduction in the number & size, and placement, of components," or similar chocobogamermine 23:33, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
512 MB internal memory
It has been confirmed by Microsoft that the Arcade SKU Xbox 360 does have 512 MB internal memory.
REF:
http://uk.xbox360.ign.com/articles/996/996206p1.html
Please update the table! Thank you!
--Doctor.cure (talk) 09:21, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
Also note that the 512MB models are the newest (as of this writing) Jasper chipset and no longer come with the compilation disc pack-in. 24.113.36.43 (talk) 21:30, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
Edited to add that I've found another source for this: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/modders-uncover-512mb-x360-arcade
The text to be changed is under Retail Configurations, in the Xbox 360 Arcade paragraph reads:
"It includes a wireless controller, composite AV cable, HDMI 1.2 output, an internal 256 MB memory chip [18] (units released prior to fall 2008 included a 256 MB memory unit)"
It should be changed to:
"It includes a wireless controller, composite AV cable, HDMI 1.2 output, an internal 512 MB flash memory chip [cite appropriate references from above] (units released prior to fall 2008 included a 256 MB memory unit, and until early 2009 included internal 256 MB flash memory chips [18])"
The place in the table to edit is the Arcade column under the "Included Storage" feature, which now reads "256 MB Flash" and should read "512 MB Flash".
40.0.40.10 (talk) 18:26, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
The Arcade Sku's running Jasper Chipsets have 256mb built in memory not 512mb. Check any major electronics retailer online to confirm, if you don't believe me —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.114.42.133 (talk) 10:47, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
- No, I don't believe you since I have a 512MB Jasper unit sitting in my house as we speak. The reason the online retailers still say 256MB is that the Arcade BOX itself still says 256MB, however upon booting the console the storage clearly states a total of 512MB. This is an error on Microsoft's end of things. The only way to tell the difference right now until correct box printings filter through retail is if it doesn't come with the pack-in disc, then it's most likely to be the Jasper/512MB model. 24.113.36.43 (talk) 21:29, 29 September 2009 (UTC)

- There isn't a 12GB model, that's the formatted and available capacity of the 20GB model. The rest of the space is lost during formatting or is reserved by the console itself. OVERUSE of pictures
And I was told off for excessive usage of pictures on the PSN article, but this is ridiculous. Do we really need a picture for each box? Consoles, maybe, but boxes? Come on! ★Ffgamera★ - My page! · Talk to me!· Contribs 08:17, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
- agree with the pictures of boxart not being needed, especially as the UK ones differ slightly. removed accordingly. However, PSN is a different type of article (console - service) so more pictures generally are needed in a console article. there are more needing removal though chocobogamermine 14:16, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
- funnily enough i've just been accused of vandalism for removing images. the images i removed are the boxes - as explained above they differ in countries - and the xbox live logo its just text saying 'xbox live' and unneccesary. what part of removing useless images of boxes - explaining my actions clearly - is a definition of vandalism. for someone who's part of project xbox you'd have thought they'd have known to read the talk page chocobogamermine 17:05, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
Choco, you removed the Xbox Live image simply because you didn't like it [1]. If you don't like it call Microsoft and complain but it is the official logo and it is needed in the article. That is vandalism in my book if you are removing logos just because you don't them. BW21.--BlackWatch21 00:26, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
- It's not vandalism, because it's a logo. The logo is not needed to illustrate the Xbox 360 article. The Xbox Live article, yes, but the Xbox 360 article? No. ★Ffgamera★ - My page! · Talk to me!· Contribs 09:57, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
- funny because your original claim was that it was the boxes i didnt like. and actually i have not once said that so dont accuse. i said that i agree with ff that the article is oversaturated with images, which it is, and that the ones that i took out were the ones that added nothing to the article - boxes and an xbox live logo that is just text. it doesnt take a genius to work out how to read a talk page and edit description properly. and you seriously need to read up on what vandalism is? its pathetic to accuse someone of vandalism because of removing an image. you obviously havent read many of wikipedia's policies... ie WP:BOLD! if you have a problem with other people making decent changes to this article then you shouldn't be part of the project. chocobogamermine 18:50, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
Rite, now I've explained why it is not even remotely vandalism, does anyone except this guy have a problem with me re-removing the images? As said by myself and FF they bring nothing (but clutter and wasted bandwidth) to the article, we can then try and get a GA for this article [obvs still a lot of other work but at the moment theres too many images and no hope] chocobogamermine 00:02, 16 October 2009 (UTC)
Sections on homebrew and processor architecture?
The article has no mention of homebrew projects that run on the XBox 360, such as Free60. It would have been interesting to read about some of the architecture, and the extensive work that Microsoft put into securing the architecture. The XBox 360 was (as far as I know) the first major game console to have significant effort put into security, and with the exception of the infamous King Kong Shader hack, has been virtually unexploited.
Instead, half the article just talks about various editions and nuances about how XBox live works, and while this is important from the consumer's perspective, technical information about the XBox 360 should also be considered relevant in an encyclopedia entry (especially considering that Apple had just moved away from Intel PowerPC processors to X86). The Xbox and Playstation 2 have this information--possibly it will only be added to articles when the consoles are obsolete. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.202.180.39 (talk) 07:24, 16 October 2009 (UTC)
- find something notable and sourced and add it. Google news hits on, for example Free60 result in a total of 3 articles that I could find, I am not sure that is that notable. Dbrodbeck (talk) 11:48, 16 October 2009 (UTC)
Tense in "technical problems" section
The tense, tone and data in the Technical Problems section gives a false impression. The most reliable source for Xbox 360 failure data -- outside of MS, and they havent released it -- SquareTrade. SquareTrade sells warranties for Game hardware.
And, of the *current* generation hardware they say;
"PS3 and Xbox 360 both fail at roughly the same rate - 0.59% for the Xbox 360 and 0.57% for the PS3"
http://blog.squaretrade.com/2009/09/minor-data-correction-game-console-failure-rates-study-1.html
The Study is here: http://blog.squaretrade.com/2009/09/failure-rates-study-finds-nintendo-wii-most-reliable-game-console.html
The "Technical Problems" section is vastly outdated and gives a totally false impression of Xbox 360s. The tense is totally incorrect. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.107.188.5 (talk) 05:40, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
the images i have uploaded
Right guys I uploaded the 4 images of the xbox consoles, and some unregistered user is disputing the fair-use rationale of them. they are promotional images designed for use on shops, and yes, whilst they may be individually replaceable with a self-made one, to make all 4 fair use is near-impossible unless you get someone that owns a core (and a wireless controller) a premium and an elite to all take pictures of the consoles it simply won't happen. as he questioned the fair-use rationale of the PES2010 cover (um...), I'm guessing he's anti ms/pes chocobogamermine 16:47, 20 October 2009 (UTC)

HD DVD
Although it would have been a major innovation for the console to have, i don't think that the initial section should mention an external optical drive for HD DVD as a major feature anymore (due to the fact that there could be confusion as to weather or not there is an optical drive avaliable to purchase from microsoft or another vendor during initial reading, and because the format is no longer supported by anyone (anyone being major format-supporting companies.) Microsoft claims they have the highest attach rate for Xbox360 in comparison with any console in history but this however is ludicrous. Not going to happen. That article was written in 2006 and doesn't say "the Xbox 360 is going to have a Blu Ray add on", but that it was a possibility if HD-DVD failed. While HD-DVD did die, there is nothing to suggest that a Blu-Ray add-on is in the works. In fact there was recently some speculation that such a drive was going to happen after Steve Balmer said something on the subject, but Microsofts "Major Nelson" came out and said that there were no plans for such a drive and that Balmer was talking about PCs (Microsoft does make windows after all) Alphathon (talk) 22:39, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

"Best" Selling Game
Can someone at least make a citation on that rather bold claim? According to Modern Warfare 2: Sales figures on Wikipedia the game has only (to date) sold 4.7 total units (over 3 systems). Whereas games such as Halo 3 has a cited figure of 8.1 million copies and it's an Xbox only title. I'm not really a rocket scientist but those numbers show a disparity. Additionally the numbers in the Halo 3 article are cited. Wikipedia standards also generally weigh in favor of information that can be cited through a 3rd party source. I haven't changed this article because of its semi-protected status. I would like, however, to bring this to the attention of "established" users.
-Paintbait (talk) 20:39, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
- I agree. I doubt that It is the best seller, and I have a feeling that was an edit made by an overzealous fan (I haven't bothered to check the history). Besides, if that number is over 3 systems, that would make the Xbox 360 figure even lower, would it not?--TheNuGai (talk) 23:29, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
- The actual statistics for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is $550 million dollars within it first five days of release across three consoles, where Halo 3 was able to garner approximately $300 million dollars its first week on the 360. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.140.187.131 (talk) 18:02, 18 November 2009 (UTC)
- That doesn't tell us anything. The BEST selling game is based on TOTAL sales, not first week profits. What you have said may indicate that it will be at some point the best selling game, but at the moment, all it says is that it made more money (not necesarily sold more copies, although it does imply it) across PC, PS3 and 360 in it's first week Alphathon (talk) 18:43, 23 November 2009 (UTC)

"backward compatability"-LIMITED backward compatability
sorry for the verbose-ness of this explanation (i've not slept good recently + my grasp of english is Vslight!)
under "Comparison of features" table
"All Xbox 360s are backwards compatible as long as they have an Xbox 360 HDD attached. This can be purchased separately for the Core/Arcade pack" They are Bitchin!!!
should mention LIMITEDbackwards compatiable(with a limited amount of xbox games/some xbox games)(check microsofts web site for an upto date list of the games currently playable via there current xbox compatability download)
currently the backwards compatability download from microsofts site only enables around 256 xbox games to be played.
some people may not be aware of this since official xbox 360 hard drives are supplied with the latest emulation profiles installed(tho not an xbox360 browse-able list of games the patch ?enables?), (and thusly may not be aware that newer updates will later become availiable) (2b honest microsoft should also supply a list of the xbox games the prof alows you to play (browse-able on the xbox360)
(the patch can be download from the website (via the xbox360 directly or downloaded to a pc/mac + burned to a cd/dvd, and then loaded onto the xbox360 via the disc) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.105.179.16 (talk) 15:06, 23 November 2009 (UTC)

- What do you guys all think? It would at least let us clear up the SKU table a bit (really is there any need for an "included games" column?). In fact, while on the subject, why are the column widths fixed? (EDIT: I get it now :P) I'll draw up a new version in here, see what you all think Alphathon (talk) 22:11, 23 November 2009 (UTC)

All Xbox 360s come with free Xbox Live Silver membership and a one-month trial of Xbox Live Gold membership (only eligible for new accounts).
All Xbox 360s are backwards compatible with supported Xbox titles as long as they have an Xbox 360 HDD attached. This can be purchased separately for the Core/Arcade pack.
All hard drives (included with a console or bought separately) come with the Xbox Live Arcade game Hexic HD.
Included accessories match the color scheme of the console they are bundled with.
All european consoles also include a composite SCART adapter (RGB Scart cable sold seperatelly).
^ a Elite in this configuration is currently only available as a bundle with Forza 3 or as a branded Modern Warfare 2 special edition (see below).
^ b The standard composite cable contains three connectors, for standard left and right channel audio and composite video, supporting a PAL, PAL-60 or NTSC image. It also lacks the toslink connector found on the hybrid cable.
^ c The hybrid video cable contains six RCA connectors, for standard left and right channel audio, composite video and HD component (YPbPr) supporting up to 1080p image[10] (although almost all TVs will only support up to 1080i). It also has a connector to attach a toslink optical audio cable, which supports either 2 channel (stereo) LPCM or dolby digital 5.1.
^ d The audio dongle contains two RCA connectors for left and right audio and a toslink optical audio connector.
^ e Compilation disk includes Boom Boom Rocket, Feeding Frenzy, Luxor 2, Pac-Man Championship Edition, and Uno
^ f Excluding Mexican and older Australian and New Zealand versions, where a Media Remote is bundled instead

Packages
I tried to add more info about this year's holiday bundles, but it's semi-protected. Here's what I was trying to add: "Holiday 2009 packages include an Elite console, LEGO Batman, and Pure. Another package includes a 250 GB hard drive, 2 controllers, and Modern Warfare 2." aubrey (talk) 16:37, 1 December 2009 (UTC)
- Err, I guess it did actually add it? It gave me an error though..? aubrey (talk) 16:38, 1 December 2009 (UTC)
We recently got a Xbox Elite and it came with Halo 3, LEGO Batman and Pure. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.57.225.250 (talk) 09:29, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
- But was it a specific bundle packaged together by Microsoft or was it just individual items bundled together by a store? Lego Batman and Pure come together with a black controller as the "Wireless entertainment bundle" or something similar, so it was probably a a store-specific offer rather than an official bundle. Alphathon (talk) 19:13, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
Special Edition Xbox 360
It might need to be said that the Modern Warfare 2 Special Edition console is not an elite console. Two reasons being that one, it's a 250 GB instead of a 120 GB hard drive, and it's not completely black. It's also a limited edition. Beast and the Harlot (talk) 19:02, 1 December 2009 (UTC)
- Technically it is an Elite, just a special edition Elite. You can get Elites in the UK (and the rest of Europe I think) with 250GB HDDs bundled with Forza 3. The MW2 version is simply a sepecial edition of the same console. Alphathon (talk) 19:16, 29 December 2009 (UTC)

Xbox 360 sales figure is questionable
The source which says the console has sold 39 million on this page and the List of best-selling game consoles page is very questionable, as it says "There are now over 39 million Xbox 360 consoles around the world" which implies that the console has shipped 39 million, not necessarily sold 39 million. What do you guys think? Because the last time I checked, the console had sold 32 million as of September 2009. (Here is the source. ★Ffgamera★ - My page! · Talk to me!· Contribs 10:19, 9 January 2010 (UTC)
- ballmer isn't the greatest wordsmith on the planet.. I would think that in 3 months it would have sold a few million at least, lead up to christmas and some good offers etc. so at minimum id guess 35m, but would there seriously only be 4m across the entire world in stores? if you split that across the countries across the cities across the stores etc you're talking only tens in each store, seems a bit too low. chocobogamermine 00:15, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
This is a joke right? The only figures Microsoft report are SHIPPED, always been the way. You won't get any other reliable info on how many Xbox 360's are on the market. VgChartz ect ... non of those are reliable. Even if you add up chart trackUK, NPD ect. That still won't give you anywhere near the correct figure.
Again Sold = Shipped. So it's 39 million.
(would there only be 4 million in stores across the world) are you kidding? On average there are 500k - 700k in stores, a little more than 1.5 mill over the xmas season. Chart track, NPD all confirm this sell through rate. Considering they SHIPPED 33.5 in september.. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Seece (talk • contribs) 11:53, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
I have to also say, you replaced 39 million figure with 31. Which was also stated by a Microsoft rep ... what the heck? You KNOW Microsoft can't lie about figures and you KNOW they only report shipped. So 39 million is 39 million. Don't change it because it's the most reliable number out there. EQUALLY as reliable as the 31 million figure because it came from the same person. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Seece (talk • contribs) 11:56, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
- I have to say I think it should stay at 39mil. If we had any reason to believe that any of Microsofts official figures were sold rather than shipped, then fine, but we don't. Besides, the previous figure of 31mil is from Aug '09. If you recall people kept changing it to "nearly 34mil" from October. If it can go from 31mil to "almost" 34mil in two months, I think it can go from 34mil to 39mil over the holiday period, with xmas gift buying, american black friday deals etc quite easily. On a side note, do we really need all those retail availabilities in the sidebar? Thats what this article is for Alphathon (talk) 10:04, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
98.220.167.39 (talk) 21:22, 12 January 2010 (UTC) seems to me its more of a fanboy fight over shipped figures then it is a debate of making wikipedia more accurate and better at relaying information, you know it wasn't too long ago that Sony used shipped figures and then ""supposedly"" changed that...we used those figures why are we all of a sudden not allowed to use these figures?
"RROD" and "Red Ring of Death" Violates Wikipedia Tabloid Rules
Wikipedia is not a tabloid, as such, the term "RROD" and "red ring of death" should be removed and remplaced with "general hardware failure" (the name for the 3-ring indicator).
- Citing from the policy:
- While news coverage can be useful source material for encyclopedic topics, most newsworthy events do not qualify for inclusion. For example, routine news reporting on things like announcements, sports, or celebrities is not a sufficient basis for inclusion in the encyclopedia. While including information on recent developments is sometimes appropriate, breaking news should not be emphasized or otherwise treated differently from other information. Timely news subjects not suitable for Wikipedia may be suitable for our sister project Wikinews.
- Further:
- Many events receive coverage in the news and yet are not of historic or lasting importance. News organizations have criteria for content, i.e. news values, that differ from the criteria used by Wikipedia and encyclopedias generally. A violent crime, accidental death, or other media events may be interesting enough to reporters and news editors to justify coverage, but this will not always translate into sufficient notability for a Wikipedia article.
- Further:
- The duration of coverage is a strong indicator of whether an event has passing or lasting significance. Although notability is not temporary, meaning that coverage does not need to be ongoing for notability to be established, a burst or spike of news reports does not automatically make an incident notable. Events that are only covered in sources published during or immediately after an event, without further analysis or discussion, are likely not suitable for an encyclopedia article.

Modern Warfare 2
I suggest, since MW2 is now the best selling 360 game with 9 billion, it should be changed to the best-seller, as Halo 3 is still listed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by ThePredkiller2 (talk • contribs) 00:41, 3 February 2010 (UTC)
- Only if you (or someone else) can provide the following info:
- Any one of the following:
- definitive, up-to-date figures for both games
- a quote of a news article , press release etc. saying MW2 has overtaken Halo 3
- a quote of a news article , press release etc. saying MW2 is the number one selling 360 game to date (not multi-platform)
- Proof that it is the Xbox 360 version has overtaken Halo 3 and not the combined multi-platform (360+PS3+PC) sales
- Any one of the following:
- Unless this info is provided we cannot change the article, even if it is incorrect, as we have no way of knowing either way. It should be noted that most places group sales from all platforms together unless there is a specific reason not to, so this kind of information may be hard to find. Also, I doubt that it has sold 9 billion copies which is the metric used here (there aren't even that many 360s, not even close (~39mil). Heck, there are only ~6billion people in the world, so 9billion copies of MW2 on Xbox 360 seems a little excessive). I would guess that the figure is gross income (presumably in $US) across all platforms, not 360 specific number of copies sold.

New picture for the sidebar
File:XBOX 360 LOGO.png | |
Manufacturer | Microsoft |
---|---|
Product family | Xbox |
Type | Video game console etc... |
I have created an image for the sidebar (see right) which shows all 3 models (Arcade/Core, Pro and Elite) of Xbox 360 and both colours of wireless controller and wanted to know what you all thought of it. It is a 1200x1200 png file with transparent background (current one is 1200x1600). It is completely created by me (I photographed the actual consoles and photoshopped them together - the Arcade is mine, the Elite and Pro are my brothers) and is licenced under the creative commons. If there are no objections (and even better if there are people who agree) I plan to change it in about a week. If people do object, I'll hold off until things can be resolved.
Why I think we should change it:
- The shadows on the current one are incredibly fake looking and a little ugly IMO
- It only shows the (now discontinued) pro version
- I really don't see the point of showing it with the media remote
AlphathonTM (talk) 22:05, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
- Done As no-one has objected, I have gone ahead and done it. AlphathonTM (talk) 15:54, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
- I object. I feel this is a bad idea. A5051790463174 (talk) 16:07, 19 March 2010 (UTC)
- Really? Why? AlphathonTM (talk) 16:18, 19 March 2010 (UTC)
- Because the original Xbox 360 photo was a much better exzample of a Xbox 360, this current photo in no way indicates that the console is a Xbox 360. A5051790463174 (talk) 13:36, 20 March 2010 (UTC)
- Um, what? That makes no sence at all. First, how does the original indicate that it's a 360? If you mean because there is no logo, then you obviously don't realise that the logo is a separate image which sits above the pic. Otherwise, I have no idea what you are talking about. This features a 360 Arcade, Pro and Elite, and both colours of wireless controller. The other one only showed a Pro, which they don't make any more, so IT is unrepersentative of the console. Also, how was it a better example? AlphathonTM (talk) 13:46, 20 March 2010 (UTC)
hmmm.. maybe having all 3 including the premium is a bit too much.. especially when your argument for not using the other one is that the premium is unrepresentative as its discontinued.. maybe just have the core/arcade and elite facing opposite each other sort of like (using ascii) / \ otherwise you get into the debate of why not include the all-gloss white and matte black 250GB's in the photo.. however i can't really see a reason to have more than one xbox in the photo.. its not like with the PS3 where there's a complete redesign.. its just different colours and an optional hard drive. chocobogamermine 19:07, 20 March 2010 (UTC)
- Fair enough. My reasoning for including all three was basically that it represents all of the main SKUs which have been sold. The Arcade also represents the Core (cosmetically identical). The 250GB ones aren't main SKUs, but special editions, and it would be stupid to include those (or other special edition) in the infobox (not that you were suggesting we do I don't think). The pro on it's own isn't representative for the same reason that a fat or slim PS3 on it's own isn't. It's not because it was discontinued, but because it doesn't represent what is currently made.
- While the differences may be more extreme for the PS3, they are still preasent for the 360. The pic I made highlights the differences between the SKUs (other than figures of course). If the only differences were the colour scheme (like comparing normal and white PS3s or normal and crystal Xboxes) then yes, but they aren't. They are different cosmetically and in terms of storage, and are sold as such. If you look at a 360 it is instantly obvious which SKU it is due to the colour scheme.
- To be honest, the main reason I did it was because the horrifically fake shadows annoyed the crap outta me. The fact that I could represent all 3/4 SKUs was a bonus.
- I personally don't see a problem with having all 3, and I tried to keep it as compact as possible - it isn't obtrusive that there are all 3 is it? Acually, is there any reason (other than being discontinued, which I don't really buy) for not having the Pro? If there is I can easily remove it (it is made up of 4 photos - one of the controllers and one of each console - cut out and put together, rather than all put together and photographed, basically so I could control the layout more effectivelly...so I can just hide/remove the layer with the Pro on it). As for having them facing each other, I don't see any reason to do that as it would create a lot of unnecessary white space (or grey space if it's in the infobox) and would either take up a lot of space, or make the consoles unnecessarily smaller.
- Honestly I'm surprised it took this long for someone to question it if they were going to. AlphathonTM (talk) 19:56, 20 March 2010 (UTC)
- I didn't really see it until the reply lol... I'd say having all 3 is a bit overkill TBH as they are identical bar the colours and HDD.. I'd say just have the arcade and elite. That way you've got one in white with white drawer and one in black with chrome drawer and HDD, representing whats currently sold and the most contrasting differences. If you have a wired controller have that and the elite as it shows the 2 different types of controllers, rather than just a different colour. chocobogamermine 14:09, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
- I do have a wired controller, but it's in terrible condition so I'm not going to put that on. It doesn't come bundled with a current console anyway, so isn't really relevent (if the Pro isn't, then neither is the wired controller). I'll probably re-take the photos anyway using my dads camera (his is a really nice DSLR, while mine is a crappy 2 megapixel brick circa 2000 :s). Can't get it done now though - I just don't have the time. should be within the week at a guess though. While I'm at it I'll try it as you suggested (2 consoles facing each other rather than side by side) but I think it'll be too spread out (like I said before). I'll post em un-edited before I do the cutting out though, so I don't have to do it for both/all the pics, then we can discuss it.
- I didn't really see it until the reply lol... I'd say having all 3 is a bit overkill TBH as they are identical bar the colours and HDD.. I'd say just have the arcade and elite. - Also, if anyone else has any input it is most welcome. 2 people discussing it is far from the consensus of the community (I have a feeling the original replier may have been trolling, but regardless hasn't really given any useful input, so its pretty much just me and chocobogamer). AlphathonTM (talk) 14:39, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
- The only reason I said about a wired controller, as its still sold by official resellers (Amazon UK as example), so it would show the other official controller option.. but if you don't want to include it fair enough..
- The PS3 article has both consoles, flat next to each other.. not even at an angle, so I don't think it would be too spread out chocobogamermine 23:24, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
- I know they are still sold, but that doesn't mean they should be in the picture. They also sell fighting sticks and racing wheels, but none of them are bundled with a console, so aren't shown. If the Pro doesn't go in, then neither does the wired controller (we have to be consistant here).
- Also, if anyone else has any input it is most welcome. 2 people discussing it is far from the consensus of the community (I have a feeling the original replier may have been trolling, but regardless hasn't really given any useful input, so its pretty much just me and chocobogamer). - Also, I think the PS3 pic is a bit ugly (only because they are at different angles) but you're right - it isn't all that empty. As I said, I'll try both. AlphathonTM (talk) 23:36, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
Sales
There is a box on the right side listing UK and Europe separately however the reference is as follows "according to Microsoft, it has now sold in excess of 10 million consoles in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA)", there is no indication that the UK is not part of this 10 million sales which is not only Europe but also Middle East and Africa and the information therefore is substantially wrong. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.129.188.147 (talk) 01:05, 19 March 2010 (UTC)
- I think the reasoning is that UK sales are far more readilly available than those for "europe" and also makes up more than a third of them (judging by the figures provided. 360 sales on mainland europe are significantly lower than in the UK, so the UK is given its own section. I agree however that it is at the very least confusing, so I shall add some clarification to the article. AlphathonTM (talk) 09:44, 19 March 2010 (UTC)
US Sales
I was just looking at the citation for the US sales, and it seems to cited to a wiki! Not only that, but the figure cited doesn't even correspond to the figure in the wiki (15,478,000). How can this have slipped by unnoticed for so long? The most up to date figure I could find is the one on History of video game consoles (seventh generation), from October 2008. Does anyone know of any more up-to-date sources so we can fix this? AlphathonTM (talk) 13:47, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
