Logo fair use

edit

The XBox 360 logo is copyrighted, and the fair use rationale states that it shoud be used to illustrate the object in question. As this article is not about the XBox 360, and the logo doesn't really add anything to the article, I have removed it. Hut 8.5 20:30, 28 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

This is, however, an official Xbox 360 branded product JayKeaton 05:04, 5 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
Feel free to put it back - I'm not saying that I have to be right! Hut 8.5 15:18, 5 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

The link to the article about problems with the wireless headset doesn't work. Can someone supply another one?—Preceding unsigned comment added by Praxis (talkcontribs)

I agree, in fact, this is and possibly always has been a "linkfarm" type site. Linking from wikipedia is an excellent way to cash in on adwords if you can get such an edit by the editors of :Wiki... This has nothing to do with fair use though.Posimosh (talk) 06:53, 12 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Microsoft has acknowledged that there are problems with some headsets- http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/12436/Microsoft-Responds-to-Xbox-360-Wireless-Headset-Issues/ Someone should update the info on the main page and link it to the source I gave, I would try to do so but I am not very experienced with it.

Microsoft hasn't actually divulged any information on the issue to the public. As stated on the main page, Microsoft service centre staff will not offer any information on what the issue is or how to remedy it. They will only offer to replace the item. I have suffered this problem and called the service centre, and spoke to 3 staff members who all offered alternate explanaions. One told me a patch was coming out to fix the problem (which was NOT the case -he lied-), another told me that I must replace it at the store before I am eligible for any further help (which I did), and the third told me that it is a design compatibility problem with early model Xbox 360 controllers. Sorry for the long post, hope this helps people.

Does the headset work with original Xbox Live games when they are played on the 360? It's not working for and seeing as this page doesn't mention issues like this I am guessing it does in fact work with original games JayKeaton 10:53, 10 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yes, it works with old games on the 360. I used it last night while I was playing Halo 2.

Any objections to removing 'opinion' material?

edit
  • It seems like the 'poor build quality' comment is somewhat out of line. While the item isn't military specification, it hardly seems flimsy and the user who keeps asserting these issues has a history of adding negative contributions to Xbox 360 related articles. Since the statement is readily recognisable as one of opinion and not of fact, I propose a vote to remove the 'build quality' statement from the initial paragraph (though it may be relegated to a small section regarding general issues, since there *was* talk from official sources regarding the audio drop out issues for some users that was addressed in a recent firmware update).

I was originally proposing a vote... but due to the low eye-traffic here that may not be appropriate. I'm going to wait an hour or two to see if anyone has any objections to removing those statements, and then I'll go ahead and deal with them (unless anyone has any objections). Type of Battery

edit

Does anyone know what type of battery (chemical wise) is in the headset?

Doesn't say anything on he headset 86.20.154.205 (talk) 22:37, 25 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Power Supply

edit

What type of power supply does it need? Voltage and width of adaptor? Is it 0.78mm hollow power adaptor?

I think it is but I need verification and a voltage as I am not sure. --Rooster212 (talk) 20:05, 1 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Well it ships with a USB charger, which is nothing but a cable (no transformer) so presumably it uses 5V, 500mA. As for the connector size, I don't know - it's certainly under 1mm though. AlphathonTM (talk) 16:57, 26 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Compatible with Xbox?

edit

I don't have an Xbox 360. But I do have an Xbox. So is this compatible with mine(wow I sound like an idiot with these short sentences).Mchcopl (talk) 23:12, 25 February 2010 (UTC)!Reply

No. Like I said with the 360 controller, it uses the propriatary wireless tech that's unique to 360 AlphathonTM (talk) 10:29, 26 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

compatablity with Messenger kit

edit

Is the wireless headset useable with the Messenger kit wanted to know as there is nothing about it on the page and i was thinking about getting a Messenger kit and i am using a wireless headset at the moment Farout59 (talk) 20:16, 25 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Yes it is. The messenger kit plugs in to the controller, while the wireless headset just connects directly to the console (via wireless like the wireless controller) so there is nothing to conflict.
P.S. I signed your post for you.
AlphathonTM (talk) 20:29, 25 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
Actually, hold on...apparently the headset connector on the chatpad detects as a wired headset so overrides the wireless headset. That'll teach me to make assumptions :s. You can mod the chatpad/controller to make it work though (look here). AlphathonTM (talk) 16:27, 4 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Transmit power

edit

I am interested in knowing the total transmit power of this headset, in watts. Is this information that can be found anywhere. It would be useful to include in the article if so.--SkiDragon (talk) 01:28, 16 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

All I can say is that it isn't in the manual or printed on the headset itself. It may be available somewhere and would certainly be nice to have, if only for the infobox, but if it isn't available it's no great loss. AlphathonTM (talk) 15:03, 16 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Does anybody know how to search for the FCC license for this device?--SkiDragon (talk) 04:48, 17 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Links/References

edit

Can we not come up with any non-MS sourced links especially for the issues that people have had with these headsets? I know that any official info will be subject to NDA's but there is information out there on endgadget and other tech sites pertaining to the outdated and proprietary spec that these wireless headsets use. Someone more familiar with procedure here, there is a comment to this effect in the "Fair Use" part of the "talk" page. Posimosh (talk) 06:59, 12 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
