AfD and notability
edit- There's an AfD here Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Y-ME_National_Breast_Cancer_Organization.
- As the sources have not been added to satisfy notability, I have tagged the primary sources and notability issues raised there that I share. Widefox; talk 20:09, 6 March 2013 (UTC)
- The official site redirects to another org, so I'm guessing they don't exist any more, I added an update tag.
- A second AfD might clear up the notability. Feel free to do that. Widefox; talk 20:15, 6 March 2013 (UTC)
- Y-Me existed for 30+ years; but you're correct, the charity stopped operations mid-2012. There are several hits on both news.google.com as well as scholar.google.com - several are trivial, but I came across enough there that I have no doubt the page can be made to meet the notability guideline. It's a cleanup issue. Unfortunately, I don't have time this week or next due to real-world conflicts; but will try to remember to come back to the article after my time starts to free-up a bit. --- Barek (talk • contribs) - 21:14, 6 March 2013 (UTC)
- I did a quick update. Widefox; talk 09:10, 7 March 2013 (UTC)
- I recall dimly my work on this article way back when, but obviously didn't yet have the knack of looking for reliable third-party sources, or just hoped somebody else would find them. It looks like there are quite a few Google Books references that would work, noting among other things that Y-ME had (when active) the "only 24-hour hotline staffed entirely by trained breast-cancer survivors" and the largest repository of wigs and prostheses, among other resources, so even though there may have been better funded (*cough* Komen) or more nationally active orgs, they served a unique niche before closure. --Dhartung | Talk 05:54, 13 March 2013 (UTC)
