Talk:Yakuza (video game)

cud someone plz post the full storyline

edit

- I'm playing through it, so I'll put a rough draft of the story here. If someone can clean it up later and then put it on the main page, that would be useful. I'll do some work myself, but can't guarantee I can catch everything. I also have to warn you it's gonna be a long one, since the story itself is of a considerable length. If people can find someway to cut it down, I would be much obliged. 82.110.248.146 11:37, 30 May 2007 (UTC)SayemReply

Story (spoilers)

edit

Draft 1

edit

The game starts in 1995, with Kazuma Kiryu, the central character, holding a gun and standing over the body of his boss, Sohei Dojima, the head of the Dojima Clan. He picks up a ring with the name 'Yumi' engraved on the inside. Just as he does this, police storm in and order him to comply for arrest.

The game then moves to a point earlier in the day, when Kazuma, a soldier of the Dojima family, and Shinji Tanaka, a member of the same clan, are standing in Kamuruchuro (spelt right?). The player is made aware of the fact that Kazuma is a high-ranking and much respected member of the Dojima family, as a result of Shinji's adulation and his nickname, 'the Dragon of Dojima'. Both of them head to a building, Peace Finance, where the boss of the company owes them money. When Kazuma walks in, he starts grovelling, but then immediately suprises them with his own gang of thugs. At this point, the player is trained in the fighting mechanics of the game. After this fight, Kazuma takes the briefcase full of money and heads to a bar called Serena. Along the way, he meets an informant friend of his, who introduces him to a young reporter. After this conversation, he goes to the alley leading to Serena's back door, but is accosted by a Yakuza member. After beating him, the Captain of the Majima family, Goro Majima, who passes lewd comments regarding Kazuma's childhood friend, Yumi Sawamura, and then proceeds to beat the Yakuza member with his umbrella, berating him for his lack of respect towards Kazuma. Just as he is about to stab him with its tip, Kazuma stops him, telling him that the Yakuza member learnt his lesson. Majima warns him that, once he has his own family, he will have to discipline his children.
Kazuma goes inside Serena and sees Akira Nishiki, another member of the Dojima clan, and Reina, the bar owner, talking. Sitting down next to him, he hears about Nishiki's sister and how her operation for her illness is going to be her last. The subject then turns to Kazuma's intention to split off and form his own family. Yumi comes in and the three of them have their drinks. After an hour or so, Kazuma falls asleep.
Waking up a couple of hours later, he is told by Reina that everyone else has gone, Nishiki itching to show that he is as good as Kazuma. Walking out of the bar, Kazuma heads up to the Fuma building, where he meets his Oyabun, Shitaro Fuma, Captain of the Fuma family, a subdivision of the Dojima Clan. Handing the money over, they talk about Kazuma's intention to form his own family, and Fuma tells him to never forget the Sunflower Orphanage, where Kazuma, Yumi and Nishiki were brought up, and where he had discovered Kazuma and Nishiki. A Fuma family member comes in hurriedly, with a phone call for Kazuma. Shinji is on the other line. He tells him that Yumi has been kidnapped by Sohei Dojima, and that Nishiki has gone after him.
Fuma learns of this and says that Dojima has a habit of getting anything he wants, including women. He warns Kazuma not to take him on, and tells him that he will take care of the situation. Kazuma says that he cannot simply abandon the both of them, since they are both like family to him. Running out of the room over Fuma's protests, Kazuma runs to the Dojima building. Arriving at his boss' floor, he sees Nishiki standing over Dojima, holding a gun. He is visibly shaken and can only say that he has killed the head of the Dojima family. Yumi is curled up against a wall nearby, also shaken. Kazuma tells Nishiki to take Yumi and get out of the building, but he refuses. Kazuma reminds him of his ill sister, and yells at him to get out, as soon as sirens are heard.
Nishiki takes Yumi away, and Kazuma takes the gun in his hand, ready to take the rap for his childhood friend.
The story then goes to the beginning of the game.
Kazuma is arrested and is being interviewed by Mako Date, a detective with the Homicide division. Date is convinced (rather ironically) that Kazuma is covering up for someone, since he knows that Kazuma has a lot to lose, being on the verge of forming his own family. Kazuma repeats the same line, that he shot Dojima. He then asks Date to give him Yumi's ring. Date says he cannot promise anything, but he will try, and then walks out of the interrogation room.
Whilst in prison, Kazuma gets a visit from Shinji, who gives him a letter saying that he is excluded from the Dojima clan. Kazuma learns that Yumi has gone missing and he tells Shinji to find her.
Some time passes and Kazuma is having lunch. Whilst eating, he is accosted by incarcerated members of the Dojima family who want revenge for their boss. Beating them, he is struck on the back of the head by a prison guard and knocked out.
10 years pass and the date for Kazuma's release arrives. He receives a letter from Fuma telling him to get in contact with (name of the host that runs Stardust). Kazuma is then released and surprised at how everything has changed since 1995, seeing everyone with mobile phones. The year is now 2005. (to be cntd...).

new article

edit

there should be a article about gougi cameo from Jet Grind Radio

Sequels

edit

I gave the sequels paragraph a quick tidy but it's still out of date. Information on European and US releases of Yakuza 2 is missing but can't be bothered to fix it since it'll be out of date again when they are released next month. Also I didn't refer Ryū ga Gotoku 3 as Yakuza 3 because as of yet it has never been described as such officially even though if Sega choose to release it outside Japan it is likely they will use that title. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.132.200.229 (talk) 18:28, 17 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

edit

Most video game articles have a "gameplay" section.

Relationship to Shenmue

edit

The series 'boxout' shows a relationship with the Shenmue series. This isn't expanded upon in the article - it would be nice if it was explained how the two series are related. Cpc464 (talk) 13:27, 31 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Kiwami deserves its own page

edit

Come August, I'll create a page for Yakuza Kiwami since it isn't a remaster/port of Yakuza 1, but a remake. Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary exists, so... Osh33m (talk) 17:07, 24 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Remember you can use sandboxes if you already have information about remake such as new gameplay, new details about the plot or production.Tintor2 (talk) 21:04, 24 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
I'll use sandbox but I have to wait until Kiwami releases in the West for more info. Osh33m (talk) 02:06, 25 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
