Move proposal

edit

Would anyone be opposed to moving this article to "Eunectes notaeus", in line with the rest of the articles in this series? --Jwinius (talk) 09:10, 30 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Eunectes notaeusYellow anaconda – This very well known snake (one of the largest few snakes in the world by both weight and length) has a well-established and unambiguous common name, so we should use that name as the article title per WP:COMMONNAME / WP:NCFAUNA. The suggested name is the original name of the article, which was moved in 2008 after a comment saying that "Eunectes notaeus" would be better because it would be "in line with the rest of the articles in this series". "Yellow anaconda" has redirected here since then. I suggest to revert that move, since it seems contrary to Wikpedia common naming guidelines. Please also see the current similar RM discussions at Talk:Eunectes murinus, Talk:Python reticulatus, Talk:Python regius, and Talk:Python sebae, among others. —BarrelProof (talk) 00:34, 30 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
