Proposed Merge With Red card and/or Misconduct (football)

edit

Support some sort of merge

edit
  • Support - They are related to the same game. They should be placed on one page with different headings for the types of cards. --dwightwatson 12:28, 5 June 2006 (AEST)
  • Support The two articles both deal with penalties in a sport, and are quite similar to each other. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.162.17.132 (talkcontribs) at 12:32, 8 June 2006 (UTC).Reply
  • Support: they're the same sort of thing, and would look better in a slightly longer article. Quite a lot of info is replicated in both.--Keycard (talk) 06:45, 10 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
  • Support - Receiving two yellow cards in close succession leads to a red card, therefore the two topics are quite closely related and it makes sense that the pages be combined.Melbell444 01:31, 14 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
  • Support - merging the articles will help avoid duplication. And by the way there's also an article called Misconduct (football), which contains similar information. Pako 10:02, 16 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
  • Support - Receiving cards is obvious subject matter to an enthusiast so merging should be a good Idea. User:vasundhar 11:31, 16 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
  • Support - merging the articles will provide better context. Should make more clear that the RedCard/YellowCard system is applied to many sports, and should include a list of sports which use the system. For an encyclopedia article, the article should lead with the many sports paragraph before going to the details for Assoiciation Football, or for any other sport. N2e 15:22, 19 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
  • Support - The red and yellow card system is what the article should cover, having them seperate is awkward as the two are so closely linked. Lewispb 13:55, 23 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
  • Conditional Support - I would support a merge, as long as the title is not specific to something else. For example I would object to merging it into Red card, but I have no objection to something like "Warning cards". I would also object to the merge with Misconduct (football), as yellow cards are not specific to that sport. --GW_Simulations|User Page | Talk | Contribs | E-mail 11:31, 24 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
  • Conditional Support We need to distinguish the symbols from the situations where they apply. What we need are separate pages for:
Of course the pages would all wikilink to each other as appropriate. jnestorius(talk) 08:10, 16 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Support merging into Misconduct (football) with disambig pages or redirects

Partial Merge Performed

edit

It seems like the most common reason for supporting some form of merge was that most of the actual content of these pages pertained specifically to football (soccer) and/or that much of the content was already present in misconduct (football). On the other hand, one of the reasons for opposing the merge was that, in spite of the actual content of the articles, red and yellow cards are in fact used in many other sports. Therefore, I took all of the stuff from the yellow card and red card pages that pertained to football (soccer) and merged it into misconduct (football). This eliminates a lot of duplicated content and, at least IMHO, makes it much easier to understand how the whole system works by reading one article. At the same time, it doesn't make it appear as if yellow and red cards are restricted exclusively to that support. If anyone is so inclined, the red card and yellow card articles can still be expanded by adding information about the use of the cards in other sports. I realize this solution probably won't please everyone, but hopefully it addresses most of the concerns that have been raised to date. rhaas 01:14, 25 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

League

edit

Presumably they're used in NH rugby league? as they're not used in Australia. Not sure what their purpose is though, as the two yellows equals a red doesn't apply, and there's no need to keep a tally. --Angry mob mulls options 00:27, 21 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
