The "Effects of Yoplait on the environment" section is wordy and a bit confusing -- what exactly does it mean for an animal to "infiltrate" a container? Also, that bit could really use some references, as it's not clear why a different shape would be any better.

Yoghurt vs. Yogurt

Since this is about an international product, should't the international spelling be used instead of the American spelling? I changed the link to point to the yoghurt article as yogurt was redirecting there, but the article could be cleaned up. --Walter Görlitz 21:59, 27 February 2006 (UTC)

• No. Yogurt is much more common and well known around the world as the name. Yoghurt will confuse people.

• Well, I agree that they are similar, and who says that everything is either "international or American?" It isn't like all English speaking countries except for the USA spell it one way, and Americans spell it a different way.

Does this product contain a live culture?

I first went to the yoplait web site to find the answer, but they don't have anything on the subject. So I came here, still nothing. I'm reffering to a live bacterial culture, apperantly some yougurts have it and some don't. If you know, please share. If you don't know please call yoplait and interogate them. We need action on this matter post-haste. Thank you.

On a different matter; someone needs to add spellcheck to this thing. I can't be held acountable for my misspellings on acounta there is no spellcheck.

Do any other countries have the ads on tv that say "Yoplait - it's french for yogurt!". they used to screen in NZ for a while.

Innovations and milestones?

This section is a condensed version of a page on the Yoplait Canada site, taken at face value. There is, however, nothing in either the Canadian or U.S. patent registries to corroborate these claims.

As for the claims themselves, the second is of questionable significance, as being "one of the first" rather than the first does not count as being an innovative industry leader. The claim that yop is the first drinkable yogurt is untrue as lassi and ayran predate yop by several centuries.

Let's keep Wikipedia from being another corporate billboard. I move for deletion of the entire list. Ibadibam 02:43, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

I saw the {{citation needed}} tag in the lead and looked around. I found this report ({{cite web}} format: Orgish, Scott (2002-06-12). "Hub Market Report on the Refrigerated Yogurt Market in the U.S.A." (PDF). Swiss Business HUB. Retrieved 2008-06-09. {{cite web}}: Check date values in: |date= (help)), which gives a good overview of the US market, including market share. It says:

Yoplait and Dannon dominate the U.S refrigerated yogurt market. Out of an estimated $2 billion in sales in 2000, all Yoplait flavors combined comprised about 29% of the market with $579 million in sales. All Dannon flavors combined comprised about 18% of the market with $362 million in sales.

Product Shrinkage

Yoplait used to come in 8 oz containers. Like many other gorcery purveyors, they have shrunk their container size (currently 6 oz as of 2/23/09) on the sly. Yes, the net wt on the container currently reads 6 oz, but they have done their utmost to sell less product to the consumer for the same price, by keeping the outer dimensions identical while increasing the size of the "offset" on the underside of the container. Yoplait is neither unique, nor particularly egregious in this. Pronunciation

I'm pretty sure I have never heard the final "t" pronounced. It's supposed to be like pseudo-French. See http://www.yoplait.com/spots/default.aspx. I would fix, but I'm not so good with the IPA. It's not IPA and it should be rendered as such to match the Wiki standard. I don't know how to code the IPA myself, however. Also, according to the TV ads visible on the (USA) homepage, it is pronounced without the final "t". It's not pseudo-French, however: it actually is a French brand name (unlike many Euro-sounding brands in the U.S. :) Un malpaso (talk) 13:49, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

The IPA (based on how the brand name is said in the States) would be /jo-pleː/. I, too, have never heard the final /t/ sound. If this claim is indeed true, Spanish-speakers would likely want to add an /e/ to the pronunciation since words in Spanish don't end in /t/. --Imagineertobe (talk) 07:59, 23 May 2009 (UTC)

This is the tagline most often associated with the brand yet it isn't in there anywhere. The fact that it is NOT French for yoghurt is of relevance too.
