PewDiePie just recently got a new "Play Button* (More trophy like) and we now need to add a new one to this wiki page. ICE1111 (talk) 19:18, 18 December 2016 (UTC)

• Then you need to provide a reliable source to document that it exists. PewDiePie's video of it is a self-published source and not sufficient to support the claim that YouTube gave the award. Request Removal of Ruby Play Button due to insufficient information and make this thread protected.

YouTube is yet to add to their website that if one gets 50 million subscribers they get a Ruby Award (PDP didn't get a play button, silly) and there is a chance YouTube gave it to him and him only since it was in the shape of a "Brofist". I'd also recommend this page be protected so that only Autoconfirmed Users and above may edit this. Love, Shepherd. (talk) 12:50, 20 January 2017 (UTC)

We won't protect the page since it technically doesn't constitute vandalism (at least not yet). However, given the sections above, I am tempted to remove it, though the reason for those denied additions was because there was no official publication of the award (Felix's video can't be used as a source). So that leaves us with YouTube's official Twitter. Pinging C.Fred and DRAGON BOOSTER to ask one question: is the Tweet enough for the Ruby Play Button to stay on the page? @JudgeRM: The salient policy is WP:SPS. Because YouTube is making the statement that YouTube gave the award, the source is admissible. The matter of interpretation is whether this is a one-off thing or an ongoing award. I'm leaning toward yes, include. However, I think a happy compromise may be to pull it out of the list of Play Buttons and make a separate section just about the Ruby Award. —C.Fred (talk) 21:15, 20 January 2017 (UTC)

@JudgeRM: I did not add Ruby play button because of the lack of proper sources but anyhow Joshuaturner added the button to the list, since then it stayed on the page. I agree with C.Fred, its not clear whether it is a on-going or this one-time award to be in the list. As the source is twitter (though self published) not the youtube video itself, I think there should be a mention in the article. regards, DRAGON BOOSTER ★ 06:53, 21 January 2017 (UTC).

It appears that T-Series has already gotten 50 million subscribers a while ago yet they haven't received the Ruby Play Button. On that basis, I don't really think it's official and I feel that it should be removed. VibeScepter (talk) (contributions) 16:52, 30 July 2018 (UTC)

YouTube Rewind

The article says 2013 in #Other, the source video confirms this, the SVG says 2017, and YouTube Rewind doesn't show the rewind SVG in its infobox. Maybe it's not really a YouTube Play Button as in "award for YouTubers", but only a logo, and the section should be moved to YouTube Rewind.

Red Diamond Creator Award

The logo displayed for this award on Wikipedia is the YouTube logo. However, this is NOT how the Red Diamond Creator Award looks like. It is like a Diamond Play Button, with a black background and red YouTube logo VoicefulBread66 (talk) 08:14, 10 September 2019 (UTC)

Wikipedia don't claim that T-Series is a Youtuber, it claims it's a *channel*. T-Series owns the first Youtube channel which reached 100 million subs, pewdiepie owns the second one.With the same logic, you could say "pewdiepie is not a Youtuber, it's the username of a man named Felix". 193.191.221.220 (talk) 09:19, 13 September 2019 (UTC)

At the start of the awards section : "When a verified YouTuber reaches a specific milestone [...]" Some people argue in this talk that T-series is not a Youtuber, it should probably be changed into "a verified YouTube channel". Change the "Custom Creator Award" section to say "There are currently nine channels that have reached this level" instead of "There are currently seven channels that have reached this level", due to there being nine channels to have reached the 50 million mark instead of seven.
