"Konami has yet to reveal any plans to release Duelpasses in North America outside of the $9.99 starter packs, despite false advertising (see Bait and switch) of the Phase 1 and Phase 2 Duelpasses on the North America section of their website." I don't believe this. I've never heard any complaint from anybody except this guy that duelpasses aren't sold there; in fact, as far as I remember, people have even told me they could. Perhaps he just lives somewhere where he can't buy single duelpasses, like I do? VDZ

The Starter Sets are available, and certain websites sell Duelpass codes, but you can't buy a pack of Duelpasses like you can in, say, the UK. Check out www.amazon.co.uk and search for "Yu-Gi-Oh! On-Line"(sic). The UK version of www.yugioh-online.net also features a store locator on the Duelpass page; the U.S. site once had links for Gamestop and EBGames, but those have been removed. The Starter Set is still available at EBGames (all locations) and at Gamestop (mall locations only), but not the packs of Duelpasses (which effectively means the U.S. won't get the Phase 2 passes at all); fairly inconvenient as they seldom have in more than 1 Starter Set at a time, and the Starter Sets make you pay a dollar extra for a thoroughly useless install disc.

In other words, Konami has efficiently defeated most of the purpose behind the Duelpasses, at least as far as the United States is concerned.

Then again, for the most part, Yu-Gi-Oh! has been a train wreck in the U.S. since Day 1. How else can you explain the wag-the-dog situation in which the animated series "The Mummy", which bandied about the name "Osiris" a fair bit, wound up getting us saddled with the lame "Slifer the Sky Dragon" name (a paean to one of 4Kids' corporate monkeys!) because it ran in the same time slot as Yu-Gi-Oh!?--Tenka Muteki 04:59, 10 December 2005 (UTC)

People from North America cannot purchase the DUELPASS 150. Technically, people from anywhere except the United States or Mexico cannot purchase the USB Duelpass Key, however thanks to online shopping site like eBay, people from all over the globe have claimed these DUELPASSes. DUELPASS 30 technically can only be purchased in Japan, however these are the most common DUELPASSes used alongside the DUELPASS 150, with several sites selling just the "key codes" online.

I have serious doubt about how accurate this actually is. I live in the Netherlands, and I've bought Duelpass 30's outside of the starter cd pack. Also, I've heard from other European people on Yu-Gi-Oh! Online that they can also normally buy Duelpass 30's over there. (At the moment of typing, I have 21 Duelpasses lying on my desk, though I only bought 5 Starter CD's (containing 3 Duelpasses each), which means I've bought at least 6 Duelpasses not in Starter Cd packs.VDZ 22:03, 8 September 2006 (UTC)

Americans can purchase DUELPASS 150 through the official website with a credit card since the game came out of beta.

I reverted the article to the previous version before it was nominated for deletion. For reasons why I oppose the deletion, please see Talk:Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game#Yu-Gi-Oh! Online article. I have done this because it was deleted for failing WP:NOT and WP:WEB, but I fail to see how it fails WP:NOT, and with the new sources, it is now considered notable per WP:WEB. Also, the game was first distributed through Shonen Jump, so it didn't fail WP:WEB in the first place (#3). If anybody has problems with this, or can tell me how it fails WP:NOT, please post here.VDZ 18:50, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
