Incomprehensible

The language on this page is so badly mangled it scarcely deserves to be called English. I certainly can't fix it, as I don't read Korean... but, perhaps more relevant, I don't read Chinese either. (Huh? Read on...)

The sidebar lists five other language wikis for the article:

• Korean
• Japanese
• Simple English
• Cantonese
• Chinese

Looking just at their layout, the Korean page is not surprisingly by far the fullest; it has a photo of a much older man and a biography (생애) that takes up 36 lines of the table of contents. But the layout of the Chinese page matches the English page closer than any of the others, so I suspect that the English page was machine-translated from the Chinese page.

I'm going to edit the page, but in the comparison below I'm using the unedited text:

The Simple English page is shorter than the regular English article, but at least it's clear and meaningful. Compare the lead section in both:

I have edited the page into readable English, using the material from the Simple English page where relevant, and making where necessary my best guess at the meaning behind the previous mess, but I'm not always sure I've got it 100% correct. I have left the previous text in, in HTML comments, paragraph by paragraph.
