Requested move 27 September 2024

edit

Yuta NakamotoYuta – Propose moving Yuta Nakamoto to Yuta per WP:COMMONNAME and WP:PRIMARYTOPIC

Regarding WP:COMMONNAME rationale:

  • Article subject uses mononym professionally and almost all English-language sources refer to him as "Yuta" rather than full name.

Regarding WP:PRIMARYTOPIC rationale:

The few people looking for the name Yūta could easily be directed to their intended destination by a hatnote on the Yuta Nakamoto article. RachelTensions (talk) 02:32, 27 September 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 04:00, 4 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

  • Comment by nominator: Why are we forced to disambiguate this article when the page title proposed to be usurped is a redirect that receives, quite literally, 113x less traffic (per pageviews tool data) than this article and could easily be replaced by a hatnote?
I don't see anything in WP:DISAMBIGUATION or WP:TITLE policy that would support disambiguating this article by not using their WP:COMMONNAME, especially when it's so clear that the redirect that is currently in place at the proposed move title is shown by traffic data as being next to useless.
Can someone point me to a policy excerpt? RachelTensions (talk) 01:01, 28 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
I'd also point out that, out of the 14 articles we currently have for NCT members, Yuta Nakamoto is the only one to not be referred to mononomously in their article title which is inconsistent (WP:TITLECON).
If people are really attached to keeping the in place Yuta redirect page that doesn't get used, and even though Nakamoto receives 98.7% of the pageviews between them, then alternatively I'd propose:
Yuta (singer)Yuta (Russian singer)
Yuta NakamotoYuta (singer)
As Nakamoto is WP:PRIMARYTOPIC per Yuta Nakamoto receiving 92% of the pageviews between the two: [1] RachelTensions (talk) 19:59, 1 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
