Changed "300 controversy" to "300 misunderstanding"

edit

It isn't worth creating a slant on the view of this director by facilitating a thing that isn't there. He specifically commented that the film in no way resembled contemporary events. This isn't a controversy, so much as a misunderstanding. --Wizardsbane (talk) 20:50, 28 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

That could look as if Snyder himself had contributed to the article, all-too much. --Hans Dunkelberg (talk) 21:54, 31 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Sucker Punch

edit

Someone should add his next project, Sucker Punch

The section 'Career' starts off with "Snyder went on to shoot..." If he went on to, what did he do before that? Needs editing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Manicmarvin (talkcontribs) 14:14, 26 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Notable works

edit

I don't think "Sucker Punch" meets criteria to be considered a notable work. Artistic merit or "notability" is a complicated issue, but perhaps the user's rating at IMDb can give an aproximate idea.

Dawn of the Dead 7.4
300 7.7
Watchmen 7.7
Legend of the Guardians 6.9
Sucker Punch 6.1 --StephenDaedalus (talk) 12:25, 11 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Error.

edit
"Media speculation about a possible parallel between the historic Greco-Persian conflict

and the US-invasion of Iraq at the time appeared in an interview with Snyder during the Berlin Film Festival in 1997.[11]"

The interview was in 2007, as the cited article suggests. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.123.93.185 (talk) 17:11, 2013 August 15 (UTC)

Potential vandalism

edit

Lots of people nowadays hold a grudge against this guy for being an admirer of Rand and will likely try to sabotage this article... as has likely already happened before. So please keep a look out, for the sake of Wikipedia credibility. We don't want it to turn into the new "RationalWiki" now do we? 83.143.83.193 (talk) 15:15, 29 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Just reading through the discussion page it becomes evident there have been some people around here that really hated the guy. Let's hope noone attempts anything stupid. /Gav 68.168.122.243 (talk) 10:34, 7 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Relevance

edit

I can't see the relevance of the subsections entitled "Actors" and "Crew". It is under the more major section entitled "Collaborations" which seems to be original research WP:NOR. Actors fall under the purview of directors and producers and I doubt fellow actors can be deemed people who Snyder needed to confer with to get the job done. Same with the crew. And there are no sources that say these are people with whom Snyder collaborated. The whole "Collaboration" section should probably be removed as irrelevant, original research and POV based on editors's opinion. Steve Quinn (talk) 02:51, 1 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Daughter Autumn Snyder

edit

I've removed the last sentence of the section regarding his daughter's tragic suicide:

Joss Whedon was brought in to finish reshoots as well as oversee the remainder of the film's post-production.[18] Before her death, Autumn started a fundraiser on CrowdRise to support Elizabeth House charity.[19]

I don't see how this is relevant to the article except to imply there was some connection between her motives for raising money for this charity and her suicide. In reality, per the source, her charitable campaign was several years prior. I'm removing reference to it. Walkersam (talk) 22:13, 26 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Style Section

edit

The style section needs updating or deletion. It has only one source from over a decade ago, meaning it doesn't say anything about any of the films Snyder made after that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pineapple4321 (talkcontribs) 12:32, 28 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Zack Snyder's Justice League

edit

I can't see the point of having "Zack Snyder's Justice League" included as it's own section in his filmography. It is a director's cut of Justice League, it isn't a new film. The only example I can find of a director's cut being listed as it's own entry in a filmography section is the Donner Cut on Richard Donner's page, no one else has their director cut's listed in their filmography sections. I think adding "(director's cut)" next to Justice League makes more senses. --TDFan1000 (talk) 22:48, 22 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Look at the situation for Dominion: Prequel to the Exorcist and Exorcist: The Beginning. Paul Schrader's filmography lists Dominion. Also, I think in some ways Zack Snyder's Justice League is closer to a new film than a director's cut. Much of what is in the theatrical cut will not be in the Snyder cut. Pineapple4321 (talk) 23:13, 4 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

It should be it's own section. A Cut suggests that the director rearranged existing footage, perhaps reinserting scenes deleted by the studio (or Joss Whedon, as the case may be). He has shot over 2 hours of new footage (almost a film in it's own right) and spent 70 million dollars, which is more than the budget for his earlier film 300. It's a new film. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.231.121.207 (talk) 13:55, 17 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Clash with QAnon?

edit

There have been news going around about Geeks+Gamers, an alt right gossip mill ran by QAnon conspiracy theorists, using Zack Snyder and attemting to hijack a charity drive to promote their own brand, leading to Snyder publicly denouncing them on their own livestream. Is this notable? 46.97.170.112 (talk) 11:07, 22 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Snyder as partial director of Justice League

edit

I think Zack Snyder is partial director of Justice League, because Joss Whedon reshot majority of the film during post-production, after Snyder's departure. For example, most scenes with Superman are from Whedon, not Snyder. I know that Snyder is credited as only director, but we can write that Whedon was uncredited director. Kaktuscraft (talk) 22:07, 23 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

he doesn't need to be partial, he is credited as the director. It is already mentioned twice, once under career and once in the Filmography that he stepped down at post production and Whedon took over. Nothing else needs to be changed or added as far as I feel. Graduates; 15 years later, directs Dawn of the Dead (2004 film)?

edit

Given that the missing 15 years were not that far in the distant past, it seems odd that nothing at all is mentioned about his career during this time. Anyone?--Quisqualis (talk) 20:50, 29 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Quick search finds he works on movie called Silence in 2002 as second assistant director but sources is IMDB and this [1] that is just quoting IMDB.NZFC(talk)(cont) 21:05, 29 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
He is talked about as "an established commercials director" in this NY Times article, so searched his name with the word commercials and got these two as well (another NY Times and LA times) confirming he was a commercials director. I would say this is why there isn't a lot more on him before Dawn of the Dead.NZFC(talk)(cont) 21:18, 29 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Zack Snyder's frequent collaborators

edit

I would like to do a table with Zack's frequent collaborators. Kinda like how, say, *cough cough* Joss Whedon *cough cough* has. What do you think? And do you have any suggestions? Andrei Bondoc (talk) 16:48, 26 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Filmography page

edit

Snyder´s friend Christopher Nolan has his filmography page and Snyder is more prolific. The page is also getting a bit crowded. Just an idea. Snyder also directed way over 100 commercials and won tons of awards for them but good luck sourcing that. Many of them ran in Europe, as I recognized a ton from my childhood when I looked at complications.
