Missing section
editIn "facts" box it shows a population of 70,015, but in the text it shows 62,700. Don't know which one is the correct value. Please find out and correct. Paulnasca 08:13, 26 September 2005 (UTC)
The "history" part is not objective. One gets the impression that after the Treaty of Trianon (1919) nothing happened in this city. There is not a single mention about the period about 1919 and the romanian population. Please correct it.--Empaler2 18:00, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
The objectivity of the article
editThe author Biruitorul seems to be very focused on the ethnic aspect of the city. He tries to emphasizing exhaustively that before The Trianon Treaty the city had a Hungarian majority and since then mostly nothing happen. From my own research A LOT happened since then in the respective city from the rapid industrialization sparked by th Romanian gov to the city becoming the political center of the county.I propose the article be fully re-written.

Completely false asertions in regard with the ethnicity of the population in Zalau and Transylvania in general. Falsified Transylvanian history too. In fact, Transilavania was part of the Hungarian Kingdom between 1867 and 1918 only. No credible bibliographical references. Because it is misleading in many aspects I propose the article to be removed from wikipedia page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.61.249.62 (talk) 15:55, 3 April 2011 (UTC)
History
editThis part "Always part of Hungary, Austro-Hungarian Empire until 1920, when after the Treaty of Trianon Hungary was chopped up and Zalău with Transylvania was given to present day Romania. Zalău with Transylvania was occupied back by Hungary between 1940-1944, and unfortuantely after 1945 was again attached with Transylavania to Romania" is very biased, to say at least. It should present historical facts, not nationalistic nostalgic opinions. Please refer to the history section of the page for Transylvania, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transylvania , for a better perspective.

Population
editThe last part was extremely biased. You can't call yourself objective and present the 2002 census as being a fake. Saying that the numbers of the census were purposely lowered contradicts the facts. The 2002 census was monitored by international and European officials that agreed to the perfect validity of the census.

Health/aid
editThe Salaj District Hospital in Zalau is twinned with Hinchingbrooke Hospital, Cambridgeshire. Groups of medical personnel have been visiting the hospital since 1990, assessing the needs of the hospital and it's staff. Medical Support in Romania (MSR) provide training, medical equipment and research. www.msr.org.uk - please note I'm not part of this organisation, am just researching hospitals in Romania and discovered the website.
