editMy compliments on the referencing here. Wow. --DanielCD 13:51, 2 April 2006 (UTC)
References
editUmm...shouldn't they be moved around so you don't see reference 16 first, then, 1, then 13, 14, 10...
I'm too lazy to do that. 154.20.225.221 02:58, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
Exactly why does "Confectioner's glaze" redirect here? If you Google Confectioner's glaze, nearly all of the results that you will see are shellac, not zein. ( See, for example http://www.chemindustry.com/chemicals/6282556.html ) It seems to me that this redirection could only have been arranged by someone in the zein industry; a possible violation of the NPOV policy. This appears to have been corrected. Vindemiatrix (talk) 01:20, 24 August 2013 (UTC)

Lead section
editThe lead section now constitutes a summary and is of the right length, so I'm removing the "needs lead section" tag. Vindemiatrix (talk) 03:34, 30 July 2013 (UTC)
Production Section Needed
editThis article probably needs a section exactly how Zein is produced from the corn gluten meal feed stock. 122.148.225.114 (talk) 06:49, 10 December 2015 (UTC)
Pronunciation

Think I found a cite for rapid evolution
editThis
“ | Gene amplification appears to be in blocks of genes explaining the rapid and compact expansion of the cluster during the [[evolution]] of maize.{{Cn|date=January 2021}} | ” |
seems to me to be supported by this
“ | <ref group="Sch" name="alpha-zein">p.{{nbs}}335, "Clusters of locally duplicated genes can also expand and contract rapidly, as shown by investigation of the 22-kDa α zein gene families in maize, sorghum, and coix, which appear to have experienced independent copy-number amplifications since the divergence of these three species (107)."</ref> ... |
” |
, however they don't say exactly the same thing. I don't want to just cite it like that, ill-fitting that the two parts are; nor just replace someone else's text without asking first. (You can see how I used this citation in this edit to another page.) Invasive Spices (talk) 20:42, 27 April 2021 (UTC)
Zein Allergies
editI'm not allergic to corn or corn products unless it contains zein. I zeroed it down to zein. Zein can also be called Confectioner's glaze. Vegetable protein. Maize. Zein. Propylene glycol. Dextrose. Maltodextrin but not always do these ingredients contain zein in it's processed form. That's the hardest part. I have to test foods and most don't have it but over the years I'm finding it more and more being used. Wish products would label zein individually! 2603:8000:2F00:D16A:452E:E9FC:718:5DDD (talk) 01:25, 23 June 2023 (UTC)
