Minor edit
edit07APR07 - Just a minor edit : I changed the instances of PM, which has a broad meaning of Prime Minister, to MP, meanining Member of Parliament. It got confusing to see several individuals with the title "actual PM". 206.248.186.117 13:50, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
Arabic script name
editAdded Arabic script name. Also removed the "Beik" titles. This is an Ottoman era feudal title, and does not form part of the name. In the current form, it can be mistaken for a middle name. While commonly used in Zgharta itself (typically by supporters of the politician), to my knowledge the "Beik" title is not used in the rest of Lebanon. (e.g I have not encountered it in online newspaper searches). --Tony Makhlouf 14:57, 18 December 2005 (UTC)
Previous version mentioned 4 patriarchs, but only 2 are listed. Changed to "at least 2 patriarchs" Removed sentence about business people success abroad. This is true of almost any town in Lebanon. Unless an outstanding example can be produced, that statement should be removed. Removed the statement about Zgharta being the Christian stronghold of the north. The meaning is obvious to a Lebanese, but not to a general audience. Wikipedia is not a platform for disseminating political polemic. (I have a suspicion that some of the "prominent politicians " are not so prominent and their names were added by their supporters, but I can't prove it). Cadmus72
To Maradite: please refrain from nationalistic, ethnocentric, religio-centric or orther partisan statements. You obviously know Zgharta well, and probably live there, so your contributions are valuable. You will make a better impact if you keep your contributions more neutral. Cadmus72
Hi Cadmus, fair comments there. I dont live there but i have read quite abit about it and statements like "the Christian stronghold" were extracts taken from a book i read about lebanon. It was in english and published in the UK. I didnt add any names to the political side of things except for Joseph Karam who some believe him to be a national hero as their are very few lebanese politicians who fought foreigner agressors and not their own kind.
Hi Maradite. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I thought you were rooting for one of the local politicians, which is fairly common in Lebanon. I agree with you that Youssef Karam is important, and I think he deserves his own article. I used to have a book about him (I went to school in Zgharta about 15 years ago), but unfortunately I left in Lebanon when I moved to the US. Maybe you can start that article.Cadmus72
Its ok. I was in lebanon last year and i had a great time! I agree with you, i would say youssef karam does deserve his own page as I would see him as an important figure not only to christians but to all Lebanese aswell. If i have time, i'd love to put together a page about him. My cousin has a huge book on the Maronite faith and there is a dedicated section on him. I know there are many people from zgharta who have an ego problem, but the truth is that zgharta is an integral part on lebanese maronites and the christian faith in lebanon. We hope to see unity of christians like it was before the civil war. Add me to your msn if u use it.
With all my Respect, Under the Main Politicians Families Article where You Mentioned, Douaihy, Moawad, Frangieh, Karam, And that is true, but there is ONE FAMILY IS MISSING MACARI Family, and under the historical names & men who reached high positions there is Stil MP JAwad Boulos, and before all of them There is The warrior SHEIKH Sleiman Boulos Macari, then The Politician & Ministre Sheikh Jawad Boulos, who has books in UNI they studies... hope that you do more research before you publish anything about my town in order to make sure that your message is well and recieved with full facts and reality
thanks and regards... Simon B. Macari — Preceding unsigned comment added by 178.152.59.252 (talk) 09:31, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
