Height of Southern Sky Column

edit

The height figure of 1080m/3540ft, which appears by now to have been referenced in hundreds of articles elsewhere online, was first added (3544ft claimed at the time) in this revision, and was/is not supported by the article cited (archived here) for the sentence in which it appears. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.47.81.86 (talk) 18:47, 22 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

This 1080m/3540ft height seems potentially misleading as it could easily be read as the height from the valley.
According to the page on the Bailong elevator, the elevator ascends 326 m. The top of the elevator is not so different from the height of the "Southern Sky Column" / "Avatar Hallelujah Mountain", and indeed it is only a short walk away with little elevation gain to view the column from the top of the elevator, at which point you are at a similar height to the top of the column. I have been there. I came to this page looking for the heights of the columns from the valley floor. I imagine many others will also. The maximum elevation in the park is not much more than 1000m. 256electrons (talk) 13:57, 9 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
