Hostility between ZAPU and ZANU

The long section about the Unity Accord has lots of accusations (which are most likely true) but need some sort of verification. Part of it also seems to be a personal account which should at least be labeled as such.129.105.203.238 (talk) 18:08, 16 October 2009 (UTC)

ZAPU and ZANLA sponsorship

There is one great businessman/politician that seems to have been forgotten by our Zimbabwean history, Ernest Mashiri Chiriseri. A direct descendent of Karimandari Chiriseri who was executed at Harare Central Prison during the First Chimurenga war. Ernest Mashiri Chiriseri played a vital role in the Second Chimurenga by sponsoring many ZAPU and ZANLA operations and was assasinated on the 11th September 1971 aged 41. At the time of his death he was the then would be successor to Joshua Nkomo. Ernest Mashiri Chiriseri had amassed wealth in the form of Welhelmina farm he bought in Beatrice in 1961 and ten years later the area was declared a white only farming area. The farm was often used as a hideout for key ZAPU officilas including Joshua Nkomo on several ocassions. He was however renowned for his cattle farming and ran a string of shops, service stations and bars around the Chihota and Mhondoro communal. His businesses were constantly attacked, vandalised and some burnt down by Rhodesian Forces in search of ZANLA forces, which were normally fed and clothed at these outlets. Split?

Didn't ZAPU recently split from ZANU–PF, after all they have there own presidential candidate running against Robert Mugabe in the 2013 elections. Charles Essie (talk) 17:20, 14 July 2013 (UTC)

Sort of - in 2008 some former ZAPU members in ZANU-PF split and reformed the ZAPU party. Others remained in. It's in the article, but needs improving. Babakathy (talk) 05:52, 15 July 2013 (UTC)

Changes I made shouldn't have been removed.

I added changes to provide more information on the history of the party since 2008. User @Vif12vf has removed these because I removed certain ideologies from the ideological list as the sources have no mention of these ideologies and one even specifically states that to state the party belived in an african socialism is false. 20thJune (talk) 18:20, 27 June 2023 (UTC)
