Contested deletion
editThis page should not be speedily deleted because... --David Stang (talk) 17:40, 14 March 2015 (UTC)
- Concerning the claim that "It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person". In fact, it is no different than the Wikipedia about EOL: both describe web sites of interest to the public and to Wikipedia users.
- Concerning the claim that "because in its current form it serves only to promote or publicise an entity, person, product, or idea, and would require a fundamental rewrite in order to become encyclopedic.": I am happy to rewrite this following the outline used for EOL
- Concerning the claim of copyright infringement: I am the author of the About page from which I adapted this page. The About page is available under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.
While I await your response, I will attempt to make the submitted article more encyclopedic.

Website Is dead - Should be cleaned from Wikipedia
editDoes it still exist? The domain seems to be empty. And this has been the state for a while now. --Gereon K. (talk) 10:17, 14 September 2018 (UTC)
This is clearly defunct and the page should probably be deleted unless someone knows an interesting history and can get a reputable source for it (especially given the above vote to delete which seems to have never been implemented) however there seem to be a large number of references to it scattered across wikipedia which should also be updated first. Looking in archive.org it seems that ZipcodeZoo existed from at least as early as 2008 until at least 2017 (based on archive page), was possibly partly based on Wikipedia data or a common ancestor of the two but did actually have some information not in wikipeda; example: https://web.archive.org/web/20170730155037/http://zipcodezoo.com/index.php?title=Myrmarachne_elongata&redirect=no taken from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myrmarachne_elongata. In any case, the links should be swapped out, either for archive.org links or for an alternative source. I've tried finding a bot that could help with fixing the links but didn't find much help yet. Change of opinion on deletion. There are so many broken links on the internet to ZipcodeZoo that that sort of establishes notoriety and thus notability and I have found an actual source which talks about ZipcodeZoo (Treehugger, now added to article) so I could probably defend this as notable. I would leave the article as a historical curiosity, valuable source of explanation and help for people fixing links. StacksofHoy (talk) 16:04, 16 November 2019 (UTC)
