History of Bridgepoint Education

edit

The article states that Bridgepoint was founded in 1999, and apparently its presence in San Diego is significant enough to place the article in the scope of WikiProject San Diego. However, the only subsidiaries or divisions mentioned are Ashford University, in Iowa, and University of the Rockies, in Colorado, acquired in 2005 and 2007, respectively.

This raises 4 questions:

  • What did Bridgepoint do during its first 6 years (1999--2005)?
  • What does Bridgepoint do in San Diego?
  • Are there any other subsidiaries or divisions?
  • Where do the names Bridgepoint and Ashford come from?

Q2: "Bridgepoint is one of San Diego’s largest employers with about 5,000 employees." [1]. I can't find a current list to see specifically what rank they are, but it looks to be in the top 5. Almost all Bridgepoint employees except for staff/faculty on campus are based in San Diego. Wakkow (talk) 06:58, 30 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi, the marketing company I work for has Bridgepoint as a client so I want to be as transparent as possible about the edits made to this page. First, most are just to update stats from 2012 to 2014. Next, in line with Wikipeida categories for companies, I added a Company section. I kept all info about lawsuits/controversies and even added some/improved citations. Please let me know if there's anything out of line.

You've literally just added so much spammy content, only sourced by primary sources- the whole point of a COI edit request is for it to be checked before being edited. Joseph2302 (talk) 23:59, 16 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
Jclayc, thank you for being straightforward about your COI. In the future, I suggest that you follow the recommendation of Wikipedia:Conflict of interest, and the practice of a number of good-standing COI editors, and add any new content or proposed removals to the talk page instead of the article.Dialectric (talk) 14:11, 17 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Content removal

edit

Joseph2302 recently removed a large section of text citing copyvio, though the suspected source site is a wikpedia scraper with many college and education articles pulled from wikipedia. The editor then removed the content again, saying the table was not necessary. If there is a wikipedia policy-based reason for the removal, I am open to discussing it here, but a solid reason is needed to remove things like nytimes references covering senate hearings where Bridgepoint is mentioned.Dialectric (talk) 13:52, 17 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Contested deletion

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because... this is a new company that has evolved or was created from Bridgepoint Education. This company will be publicly traded starting April 15, 2019. See company page (https://www.zovio.com/) or Yahoo! Renamed to Zovio

edit

This company has renamed itself "Zovio" for anyone who has the interest and time to move this article and update it. ElKevbo (talk) 14:30, 4 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

I tried to create Zovio as an additional page, and it was shut down. I am now waiting for the official Zovio start date before moving the Bridgepoint Education page to Zovio, introducing a redirect, and restructuring the history section. If someone does it before then, I will validate accuracy. JMBristow2 (talk) 15:55, 4 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

I've requested a move at WP:RM/TR. Once that's done, I'll update the lede of the article. BubbaJoe123456 (talk) 13:18, 5 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Zovio is out of business ....

edit

We need to update this article because Zovio is out of business and no longer listed on NASDAQ. Thanks! 50.4.132.185 (talk) 01:41, 18 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
