2007 National Magazine Award for Fiction?
editThe author blurb on the back flyleaf of Darwin's Bastards says "The winner of a 2007 National Magazine Award for Fiction, she has received numerous awards for her magazine journalism." A similar claim is made on her bio on the Douglas & McIntyre (the publishers of Darwin's Bastards) web site.[1] I'm assuming they mean the Canadian National Magazine Awards. The Past Awards search function for the Canadian National Magazine Awards site returns:
Category Title Magazine Creator Year Award Type Magazine Website Fiction Investment Results May Vary Vancouver Review Zsuzsi Gartner 2005 Silver http://www.vancouverreview.com/ Fiction What Are We Doing Here? TORONTO LIFE Zsuzsi Gartner 2001 HM http://www.torontolife.com Service Journalism Quit Your Job VISTA Zsuzsi Gartner 1989 HM http://www.vistamagonline.com/
There is also the National Magazine Award in the USA but a search on that award's site reports "0 matching records found" when searching for all years, all positions, all categories, all magazines, for the author or editor name "Gartner."
I'm guessing the 2007 award report is an error and they mean the 2005 silver award for fiction which I added to the article. --Marc Kupper|talk 07:31, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
