Merge proposal

edit

The German-language name "Opernhaus Zürich" is name to both the opera company in Zurich and the house in which it plays. For that reason, the German wikipedia page de:Opernhaus Zürich deals with both the company and the building. The English-language wikipedia page should do exactly the same. Refer to http://www.opernhaus.ch// to see that "Opernhaus Zürich" is simply the name of the company, not just of the house. Mr. Pereira is Intendant of the Opernhaus, meaning the company, not just of the building! 85.1.43.53 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 11:50, 30 December 2010 (UTC).Reply

Very late to this discussion, but then I seem to be the only other person who cares enough to voice an opinion. My vote is No on the merger proposal. Ballet Zurich is also resident at the Opernhaus Zurich, so it is not as if only opera is presented in the house. The article on the opera company itself can use refinement, and I will work on that when I have the time. Cheers, DJRafe (talk) 12:57, 6 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Zürich/Zurich

Th recent move from Zürich to Zurich is not supported by the company's own statements in English – they call it consistently 'Opernhaus Zürich'. Wikipedia calls most non-English opera companies by their native name, so I don't see why this article shouldn't use the name how Viva-Verdi (talk · contribs) created it in 2006. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 13:14, 2 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

I support that. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:50, 2 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
