Examples
- For most pages simply use:
- * {{Art UK bio}}
- Artworks by or after Art UK bio at the Art UK site
- By default, the template will use the page-name of the article (without any disambiguating final parentheses), and try to retrieve the Art UK identifier automatically from Wikidata.
- An artist can also be linked by giving the identifier part of the Art UK directly, e.g.:
- * {{Art UK bio|id=de-marees-georges-16971776|name=George de Marées}}
- Artworks by or after George de Marées at the Art UK site
- * {{Art UK bio|desmarees-george-16971776|George Desmarées}}
- Artworks by or after George Desmarées at the Art UK site
- This can be necessary if an artist has more than one page at Art UK. However, if possible, it should be preferred to link via Wikidata as above, as the Wikidata entry is more likely to be updated if the Art UK identifier changes.
- To link to an artist other than the subject of the article, e.g. Charles Walter Simpson (English artist) on this page, supply the name and the wikidata item explicitly, as:
- * {{Art UK bio|wikidata=Q5083334|name=Charles Walter Simpson}}
- 27 artworks by or after Charles Walter Simpson at the Art UK site
- If the Wikidata item contains Art UK artist ID (P1367) without the qualifier number of works (P3740):
- * {{Art UK bio|wikidata=Q40219650|name=R. G. Brown}}
- Artworks by or after R. G. Brown at the Art UK site
- If the Wikidata item does not contain Art UK artist ID (P1367):
- * {{Art UK bio|wikidata=Q9682|name=Elizabeth II}}
- Artworks by or after Elizabeth II at the Art UK site
- To omit the number of paintings, use
|nocount=true
, e.g.:
- * {{Art UK bio|wikidata=Q5083334|name=Charles Walter Simpson|nocount=true}}
- Artworks by or after Charles Walter Simpson at the Art UK site
- For links with an Oxford Dictionary of Art and Artists biography, use
|oxbio=true
, e.g.:
- * {{Art UK bio|wikidata=Q5083334|name=Charles Walter Simpson|oxbio=true}}
- 27 artworks by or after Charles Walter Simpson at the Art UK site: see extended Oxford Dictionary of Art and Artists biography, under "artist profile"
- To add text after the usual output, use
|addtext=
, e.g.:
- * {{Art UK bio|wikidata=Q5083334|name=Charles Walter Simpson|addtext=. ADDED TEXT}}
- 27 artworks by or after Charles Walter Simpson at the Art UK site. ADDED TEXT
- To format the output as a reference, use
|ref=true
, e.g.:
- * {{Art UK bio|wikidata=Q21458087|name=Stephen John Marshall|ref=true}}
- To add a retrieved date after the usual output, use
|retrieved=
, e.g.:
- * {{Art UK bio|wikidata=Q21458087|name=Stephen John Marshall|ref=true|retrieved=22 November 2024}}
- 1 artwork by or after Stephen John Marshall, Art UK. Retrieved 22 November 2024.
