Template:CR Census population/doc

This template is a Template:Historical population information box that will fetch census population data from Wikidata when put in an article about a province, canton, or district of Costa Rica to fill it.

This template considers the following censuses:

• 1864
• 1883
• 1892
• 1927
• 1950
• 1963
• 1973
• 1984
• 2000
• 2011
• 2022 (This was a census, but was published as a population estimate because the INEC faced multiple problems while it took place, including budget cuts and the COVID-19 pandemic, leading in only about 60% of households being surveyed and estimates having to be used to fill in the missing data.)

Usage

Just transclude the template into the article, preferably in a Demographics section. No action is needed past this. If any information is wrong, please go to Wikidata and correct it there.

You can use the |align= parameter to set the infobox's alignment. It accepts the following values:

• right (default): infobox floats on the right side of the page.
• left: infobox floats on the left side of the page.
• center or centre: infobox is on the vertically centered on the page.
• none: infobox is on the left of the page, without text wrapping.

Updating

Updating this template to show new censuses is simple, just copying a line of code for the last census and correcting the year is enough. The new line will not work if it cannot find information in Wikidata, however, so please add new information there whenever it comes out.
