Template:Category works by person/doc

This is a documentation subpage for Template:Category works by person.
It may contain usage information, categories and other content that is not part of the original template page.

Category works by person is used in category pages using the format of "work type by creator" to automatically handle the layout, links, and categorization (with name sorting) of the page.

Paramaters

The following parameters are optional:

|1= or |nationality=. Use to categorize in a nationality sub-category instead of the general profession category. If no nationality category exists, will fallback to the general category.
- {{Category works by person|American}} or {{Category works by person}}
|sort=. Use to overwrite the automatic sorting which uses the person's last, first name.
- {{Category works by person}}

What it does

The template will perform the following:

Add {{Portal}} with the relevant portals.
Add {{Category more}} with a link to the individual's article.
Add {{Automatic category TOC}} to handle the category table of contents.
Place the category as a sub-category of the relevant category.
Place the category as a sub-category of a "Works by person" category if it exists.
