This template is for creating a standardized appearance for categories of battleships that were designed, built, or operated during the Spanish–American War (April–August 1898), and categorized in Category:Spanish–American War battleships.

Note: Although the conflict is properly written with an un-spaced en dash, as in Spanish–American War, this cathead template and other related Spanish–American War cathead templates use a hyphen in the name for ease of typing.

Usage

For countries not prefixed with the definite article the, like "Belgium" or "France", use:

where Country name is replaced by the specific country's name. For countries that are prefixed with the definite article, like "the Netherlands" or "the United Kingdom", use:
