Template:Db-spamuser/doc

This template is used to tag pages for speedy deletion under the speedy deletion criteria, specifically CSD G11. There is a separate template for each criterion – see the table to the right.

This template places the page into the categories: Candidates for speedy deletion, and Candidates for speedy deletion as spam.

When to use

This tag is for absolutely obvious, uncontroversial, blatant, no-reasonable-human-could-possibly-disagree advertising.

For example, use this when User:Bob's Widget Shop has a user page reading "Bob's Widget Shop has the best deals on widgets, visit us at 123 Main Street". Don't use this for new editors who are following the advice in WP:UPGOOD guideline to write something about themselves on their userpage, which expressly includes permission for "a simple link" to their own website (including a social media account, a personal website, or even their own business). Remember that knowing who editors are and what their interests are helps us manage conflicts of interest. We actually want editors to publicly disclose to us that they work for Big Corp., or that they wrote the article that they've been citing, or that their family members are running for political office.

If you dislike the user page, but you don't think it would be absolutely, incontestably uncontroversial to delete it without any discussion, use Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion instead.

How to use

The template should be placed at the top of the page to be deleted.

Parameters

This is the most basic form of the template.

Bot accounts will specify the |bot= parameter to notify the reviewing admin that the page was tagged by an automated process.

Author notification

If you nominate a page for deletion under this criterion, please consider placing the following code:

...on the User talk page of the main contributor(s) to the page, replacing PageName with the name of the page being marked for deletion. This will display the following user warning template:

A tag has been placed on your user page, PageName, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be advertising which only promotes or publicises someone or something. Promotional editing of any kind is not permitted, whether it be promotion of a person, company, product, group, service, belief, or anything else. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
