- ALT4:... that the "silly shirt" chosen for the 2001 APEC forum—the tangzhuang (pictured)—launched a fashion craze in China?

5x expanded by LlywelynII (talk). Self-nominated at 15:31, 8 January 2018 (UTC).
- Article has been newly expanded, is well over the minimum length, and passes checks on neutrality, sourcing (mostly, see below), and plagiarism. The ALT4 hook is interesting, brief, and sourced, though I would like to see the wording match the article and source ("craze" doesn't quite appear). The image it pairs with also works well. The ALT5 hook is also fine, in case the ALT4 hook doesn't work out. QPQ has been completed. The only problem with the article I see is the lack of access-dates in the citations, as well as the use of an external link in the publisher field for Ref 28. It's a sea of blue links and it looks really ugly. Not enough to stop the nomination, though. SounderBruce 06:44, 9 January 2018 (UTC)
- I feel terrible holding up my own nomination but do you really prefer to go with ALT4 over the others? I can bring over cites for "silly shirt" and "craze" from the Tangzhuang article but, in that case, I should add my 5× of that article to the nomination here. I'd rather not, since they'll get more clicks separately, but the reviewer loves what the reviewer loves. Do you want to review it as well? go with another hook? or just do the APEC half and let someone else do the tangzhuang part?
Side point: Not sure what you mean about "publisher field". Are you talking about the link to the People's Daily? That's the title, not the publisher, and the cite works the same way as every other one in the article. It just looks a little different because that's the only People's Daily article in the lot that actually listed its writer. Did you just need me to remove his/her name? Seems needless. — LlywelynII 09:44, 9 January 2018 (UTC)
Hmm... Looks like someone already moved this to the approved noms page. Really needs to get moved back if we add on the tangzhuang article and need another reviewer for it. — LlywelynII 10:08, 9 January 2018 (UTC)

I suppose Mr Bruce is not coming back? At bare minimum, then, this is going to need another reviewer foreither (A)the tangzhuang 5× (for its inclusion into ALT4 vetted by Mr Bruce)or (B) a different hook.— LlywelynII 14:18, 10 January 2018 (UTC)

- This was sitting at the bottom of my watchlist (probably due to our different activity times), so I'll need to take another look when I have time. I'm not exactly sure what your problem is with this review, seeing as you specified that the reviewer was to choose the hooks that were interesting and review them without needing to look into the others. SounderBruce 14:32, 10 January 2018 (UTC)
- No, no, no: you did a fine job. If ALT4 is the one you wanted, though, then the 5× expansion I did of the tangzhuang article should be folded into this hook, like I mentioned above. You don't need to do that review (and "silly shirt" and "craze" are now sourced in both articles) but someone will need to. I'll reformat and nix the other non-tangzhuang related hooks to remove the clutter. — LlywelynII 23:54, 10 January 2018 (UTC)
- This article needs a second reviewer to go over the tangzhuang part of the hook. (Sounderbruce already approved the APEC part above.) — LlywelynII 03:19, 13 January 2018 (UTC)
- Hi, I'm in the middle of reviewing the tangzhuang article. I'll probably finish tomorrow. Rachel Helps (BYU) (talk) 22:30, 16 January 2018 (UTC)
- for the tangzhuang article. I can tell it was a lot of work--thanks for including links to the sources on Google Books. The article was expanded 5x by January 5th, so it's new enough and long enough. I checked every reference, except for one that was print only! Earwig's copyvio detector doesn't detect any copyright violations and neither did I. The article is also neutral. Rachel Helps (BYU) (talk) 18:05, 17 January 2018 (UTC)
