Africa House
- ... that the South African Pavilion (pictured) at the 1938 Empire Exhibition in Glasgow became the canteen at an explosives factory? "The former South Africa pavilion with its distinctive curvilinear Dutch Baroque gables is one of the few remaining buildings from the Glasgow Empire Exhibition of 1938, held at Bellahouston Park ... Built as a temporary structure, the building was later moved to Ardeer to become a staff canteen." from: "Ardeer, ICI Plant, "South African Pavilion" (Former ICI Staff Restaurant) (LB19136)". Historic Environment Scotland. and ""bought and relocated to the ICI Nobel works, a large area dedicated to the production of explosives" from: "Nooks and Corners". Private Eye. No. 1545. 16 April 2021. p. 23.
- ALT1:... that developers have applied to demolish the Category B listed Africa House (pictured), formerly a pavilion at the 1938 Empire Exhibition? "Clowes Developments, which bought the area including Africa House in 2006, has applied for planning permission to demolish the building" from "Nooks and Corners". Private Eye. - Date and length fine. However @Dumelow:, there's no mention of an explosives factory in it. Is ICI an explosives company? That needs to be made clear. QPQ done, no close paraphrasing. Picture licence is fine. Please ping me once that is sorted and I'll have a look at it. The C of E God Save the Queen! (talk) 18:13, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
- Hi The C of E thanks for the review. I'm a bit confused, the article states: " Africa House was purchased by ICI Nobel and relocated to their explosives manufacturing site in Ardeer, North Ayrshire", cited to Private Eye, an extract from which I've provided above - Dumelow (talk) 20:03, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you, I missed that. I have to give it the AGF tick for Private Eye as the Historic Scotland source doesn't mention explosives. The C of E God Save the Queen! (talk) 20:07, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
