General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems
Hook: Hook has been verified by provided inline citation
QPQ: Done.
Overall: The article passed its GA review on August 12 and was nominated on the same day. Length and sourcing are adequate. The article is neutral in tone and no plagiarism was detected. All imgaes in the article are in the public domain. QPQ requirement is complete. I have struck ALT2 as not being interesting to a broad audience, since many politicians around the world are appointed to positions without election. The other two hooks are interesting, and ALT1 is the stronger hook. Both remaining hooks are mentioned in the article, cited and verified by the source. Thank you for submitting this nomination.
