- New enough and long enough. Well cited, although the citation system is odd. QPQ done. Hook is sourced and the right length. @Makeandtoss: I think it's interesting, but it might be more interesting if it said "whose laity is mostly Arab and clergy mostly Greek" (or something to that effect) at the end. Thoughts? Srnec (talk) 20:26, 22 January 2023 (UTC)
- Agreed and edited as suggested @Srnec:.Makeandtoss (talk) 09:46, 23 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Srnec and Makeandtoss: Where in the article does it say that the laity is mostly Arab? Sojourner in the earth (talk) 11:18, 4 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Sojourner in the earth: Implicitly mentioned in several places but now edited and there’s an explicit mention in both lede and background. Makeandtoss (talk) 12:28, 4 February 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks. Can you confirm that the source given in both places (Robson 2011, p. 77) directly supports this claim? Sojourner in the earth (talk) 13:09, 4 February 2023 (UTC)
- From p. 77: "The Greek Orthodox Church in Palestine itself, though, had long been foreign-dominated. The clerical hierarchy, who were entirely Greek and Greek-speaking . . . The Palestinian laity, who were ethnically Arab and Arabic-speaking . . ." We could remove the word "mostly", which only makes the claim stronger. Srnec (talk) 16:32, 4 February 2023 (UTC)
- That seems alright – better not remove "mostly" though. Thanks. Sojourner in the earth (talk) 19:58, 4 February 2023 (UTC)
