Auxois
edit- ... that merchants at horse fairs appreciated the Auxois horse (pictured) because its chestnut coloration might hide dirt better than the light gray Percheron or black Nivernais?
Alt 1:' ... that in the 1970s the French government promoted the breeding of the Auxois horse (pictured) as a source of meat?

- Article text expanded at least fivefold since April 11, and meets the length and policy requirements (particularly well-written and well-referenced). The hook seems a little verbose and in-horseman-universe; I've proposed an alt hook based on what packed the biggest wallop for me when I read the article. I also added an image. I would pass it as good to go, but assume it now needs a second set of eyes, since I've added stuff. Cynwolfe (talk) 22:53, 13 April 2013 (UTC)
- The alt hook is fine with me, if that is what people agree on - it just seems a little bland to me because the French government did this with quite a few breeds during the 70s. I thought the initial hook was interesting because there are a lot of people who choose their car color based on this same thought process today - it shows how long the idea of hiding dirt on your transportation has been around :) Dana boomer (talk) 23:36, 13 April 2013 (UTC)
- Ha—I'm pretty sure the grime is all that holds my car together. What would you think of rewording as that merchants at horse fairs appreciated the Auxois horse (pictured) because its chestnut coloration might hide dirt better than the light gray Percheron or black Nivernais? Cynwolfe (talk) 02:59, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
- That would work, too. I wasn't completely happy with the original hook; you are correct that it was overly wordy. Your version is definitely better. Thank you for taking the time to work through this, Dana boomer (talk) 11:46, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
- My pleasure. Do you want to replace the original hook with another wording? Cynwolfe (talk) 16:59, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
- Oh yes, of course. I've switched out my initial wording for your reworked version. Dana boomer (talk) 17:33, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
