- Thanks Yoninah. I should have read the article first! By "in the back", I had wrongly inferred that the police came in the back way, whereas the illegal casino itself was in the back room. But, that does mean that there is ambiguity. Perhaps "before they raided its backroom illegal casino". "Backroom" appears to be an okay word, at least in American English. What do you think?
