Bibi Torriani
- ... that Swiss athlete Bibi Torriani was the first ice hockey player to recite the Olympic Oath?
[1][2]NOTE: Sources state the only hockey player ever to recite the Olympic Oath. Hayley Wickenheiser later did the same in 2010.IOC list- ALT1:... that Swiss ice hockey player Bibi Torriani was chosen to recite the Olympic Oath and carry his nation's flag at the 1948 Winter Olympics? [3][4]
- ALT2:... that Bibi Torriani was the first Swiss ice hockey player to be inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame? [5]

- Of all the hook choices, I think the best one is the first hook. However, the sources used in the article appear to be blogs. I was wondering if a more reliable source could be used to cite the hook as well. It probably won't be too difficult to find one since the German sources used in the article seem to confirm that he recited the oath (the same German sources appear to verify ALT1, which can be used as the backup option in case the first one doesn't work out). - The German language sources do not explicitly state that Torriani was the first hockey player to recite the Olympic Oath, but rather confirm he stated the oath. I did not find any other sources in any language which stated him being the first hockey player to do so. The two English language sources state the only hockey player, but the corresponding footnote explains that as of 2010, he was no longer the only hockey player to recite the oath as per the IOC's list [6] If that is not sufficient, then strike ALT0 and move onto the other hooks. Flibirigit (talk) 23:02, 22 September 2019 (UTC)
- Note, the same two sources in question also support ALT1, and no other sources in any language were found to support flag bearer. Again, if you don't like those "blog" sources, please strike the hook and move onto the next one. There are no more sources coming. Sorry. Flibirigit (talk) 23:09, 22 September 2019 (UTC)
- I should have said that the IOC's list [7] states the Oath takers, and which sports they participated in. It should be easy to figure out that Torriani is the first hockey player by reading the list, despite it not having a sentence which says "he was the first hockey player". Flibirigit (talk) 23:17, 22 September 2019 (UTC)
I also proposing a new hook: Flibirigit (talk) 23:09, 22 September 2019 (UTC)
- ALT3:... that Swiss ice hockey player Bibi Torriani recited the Olympic Oath at the 1948 Winter Olympics, and was the first Swiss ice hockey player to be inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame? [8][9]
- Narutolovehinata5 I have substituted the IOC list into ALT0 as the best supporting citation. It was previously hidden in the footnotes in Torriani's article. There are no substitute citations for ALT1. Flibirigit (talk) 00:08, 23 September 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks. I'm a bit worried that relying solely on the IOC list could be considered synthesis by other editors, but I think that can be solved if it's used in conjunction with the two blog sources. I'll do the rest of the review in a moment. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 02:38, 23 September 2019 (UTC)
- The article received a 5x expansion, other DYK article requirements are met. No close paraphrasing was found (the only positive was for the quote on the establishment of the award named after him). A QPQ has been done. Of the hooks, I suggest we stick with ALT0 or ALT1 (ALT3 is probably too long); assuming good faith for the German-language sources, though the IOC link mentioned as well as the English language blog links seem to confirm the information.
