British ambulances in the Franco-Prussian War
edit- ... that British ambulance units served alongside armies of both combatants in the Franco-Prussian War? Source: see article. FOr example the Anglo-Irish Brigade served exclusively with the French forces and the British Ambulance Corps with the Prussians, others were more fluid or neutral
- ALT1:... that the British Red Cross was originally an ambulance unit that served in the Franco-Prussian War? Source: "The British National Aid Society (NSA) was not the only British body to offer neutral relief in the Franco-Prussian War as a number of temporary committees were formed and disbanded in the years 1870-71. But the NSA proved more enduring, reappearing in European wars and British colonial campaigns, and assuming a permanent status as the British Red Cross Society (BRCS) in 1905." (journal article)
