I'd dispute that the paraphrasing is close or voluminous enough to present a problem, but of course welcome others' views. Note that I recently reverted Yoninah's edits to these clauses, because they significantly changed their meaning {e.g. "helping... to put out an incendiary bomb" -> "attempted to defuse an incendiary bomb").
