5x expanded by Dwkaminski (talk). Self-nominated at 19:36, 30 August 2020 (UTC).
- I hate to say this, but the expansion work is not large enough for DYK, because it does not reach 5×. Looking at the article, the status on August 2, 2019, before your expansion work, showed it had 2,084 characters of readable prose, which means you would be aiming for 10,420 characters for 5× expansion. Or if we were measuring from July 2, 2020, the article at that time had 2,141 characters, requiring 10,705 characters to meet the 5× rule. Right now it is only 6,361 characters, and the expansion work has been drawn out over two weeks, so it would be very, very difficult to expand it so much further that it would qualify in the limited time frame and in size. There's not enough material in the sources for that. Otherwise, the referencing looks good, the neutrality is good, and the photo is obviously old enough to be public domain, but it should be shifted to Wikimedia Commons. Anything about naval rams is really cool, and makes me read further. Binksternet (talk) 02:54, 2 September 2020 (UTC)
- Comment: You may take your time expanding further, no deadline, but perhaps consider to pursue a nomination for Good article, which if successful will be eligible regardless of size. Another course may be to write something new related to him, and mention him in a hook. My experience: even if just linked, not bold, it will get attention. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:26, 2 September 2020 (UTC)
- Gerda's idea is good, Dwkaminski. You can nominate the article for WP:Good Article status, and then bring it here again. Ping me when you nominate and I will do the GAN review. Binksternet (talk) 18:28, 8 September 2020 (UTC)
