Col du Ballon d'Alsace
edit- ... that the Ballon d'Alsace was the first official mountain climb in the Tour de France although it had crossed the slightly lower Col de la République in each of the previous two years?

- Very interesting article; the article is long enough, new enough and nominating in time. Hook is a little confusing for me, as I can't find the source that support it in the article. Ref #2 tells me that Ballon d'Alsace was first climbed in 1905, not that it was the first official mountain climb (but my French is limited, so please tell me if I'm mistaken), but the second half of the hook-sentance is not supported by an inline citation. Rest of the article is good, so this is good to go when the hook-sources is fixed. Mentoz86 (talk) 06:37, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
- I have added further references which I hope deal with your concerns. -- Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 07:19, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
