- ... that the local Buddhist temple, Dharma Bum Temple, launched a fundraiser to buy the Swedenborgian Church in San Diego that raised $490,000 in three and a half months? Source: "The nonprofit had about $7,000 in its bank account, and 108 days to raise about $490,000. On Valentine’s Day, the 108th day of the fundraiser, the final $3,000 donations came in to make their goal. More last-minute donations gave them $7,000 to spare." - ALT1:... that Dharma Bum Temple helped organize the first Buddhist college fraternity in the United States, Delta Beta Tau, at San Diego State University? - Reviewed: While I am credited on several articles with DYK credit according to the DYK bot, per [1] these were merely articles I contributed to. This is my first actual DYK nomination.
- Comment: I'd like to note that the images added to the page (except for the logo) were all added after the article was promoted to GA status because there wasn't any free images available until a few days ago. Not sure if that effects anything for DYK but just disclosing this. Also, if the ALT is preferred then the bottom photo to go with it is preferred.

- I didn't think I would see the day I'd see another editor than myself post a DYK about Buddhism. I'll be back to review.--Farang Rak Tham (Talk) 15:51, 24 July 2018 (UTC)

Overall: I don't see any serious issues, just some minor comments. The main hook has two that's in a row, which reads a little rough. How about connecting with San Diego, raising instead? The comma also helps. In ALT1, I'd delink Buddhist to prevent WP:SEAOFBLUE—and it is not required. You might also want to remove the comma after Tau. I couldn't access San Diego Tribune from where I am at, because the website is not up to European standards (probably privacy law), but i'll try to find a work-around. - Thank you for your comments. I have made the suggested modifications to the hooks as ALTS 2 and 3. For the comma after Tau i think that fits, as the college fraternity isn't Delta Beta Tau at San Diego State University, it is just Delta Beta Tau. So i was saying Dharma Bum Temple helped organize the first Buddhist college fraternity in the United States at San Diego State University, but interjected with the name of the fraternity using the commas. Also, interesting that you weren't able to access San Diego Union Tribune, I always thought anything accessible in the US would also be accessible in Europe. I guess us Americans actually do have more freedom lol. Wikiman5676 (talk) 03:22, 26 July 2018 (UTC)
- Also, which hook do you prefer? I'm pretty on the fence about which hook would be more interesting.Wikiman5676 (talk) 03:28, 26 July 2018 (UTC)
- San Diego Union Tribune cannot be accessed because of privacy law that was just recently issued in Europe, responding to the issues with Facebook. The news outlet probably didn't adjust in time, needs more time, or maybe chose not to adjust because their main readership is in the US anyway.
- The adjustments made are good. Passing ALT 2 and ALT 3, with a preference for ALT3, because it is interesting for a broader audience. ALT 2 is interesting as well, though less so, because people not from the US may not know the economical context for how hard it was to raise such money in such short time. Still, both are very interesting.--Farang Rak Tham (Talk) 07:19, 26 July 2018 (UTC)
Okay cool. Let's go with ALT3 then. Wikiman5676 (talk) 15:48, 26 July 2018 (UTC)
