dril
edit- ... that the absurdist Twitter writer known as dril continues to insist that he's not owned, even as he slowly shrinks and transforms into a corncob? Source: see the "corncob" section. This is a reference to one of dril's most famous tweets.
- ALT1:... that the absurdist Twitter writer known as dril has been compared to Jack Nicholson, Donald Trump, John Kennedy Toole, "the internet's collective id," and "an expired Applebee's coupon"? Source: These comparisons are found throughout the article. The Nicholson, Trump, and Toole comparisons (and their sources) can be found in the image caption in the "Character or persona" section. The "internet's collective id" quote and source can be found in the first paragraph of the same section. The poet Patricia Lockwood called dril an "expired Applebee's coupon" and her quote and the source can also be found in the same section.
- ALT2:... that, according to the absurdist Twitter writer known as dril, he continues to insist that he's not owned even as he slowly shrinks and transforms into a corncob? Source: see the "corncob" section. Same as the main proposed hook, but with alternate wording.

- Comment: I understand that the corncob "fact" is not literally true, but little is known about dril and I think it is fitting to have an absurd "fact" about an absurd writer. Referring to dril as an "absurdist" should suffice to clue readers in that the hook is referring to something slightly absurd. What's more, there was a famous and contentious misunderstanding about the significance of "corncob" from people who did NOT know this reference (see the "Corncob" section of the article if you don't know what I'm talking about), so the hook is, in that sense, a very important fact about dril. It's fair to ask if people "know" this fact because the dividing line between people who know about dril, and those who don't, has been demonstrated to be knowledge of this very tweet. I think it gives just enough info to intrigue the reader, which is ideal for a DYK hook. ALT2 is a version of the main hook that is worded (in a less fun way) to make clear that this is something dril said.

- New, in time long enough, neutral, no apparent copyvios, QPQ done, sourced, hooks check out. Technically ALT0 is literally true, because the entire phrase "he's not owned, even as he slowly shrinks and transforms into a corncob" can be read as what dril is continuing to insist. The absurdity of the statement, moreover, makes that the more logical reading of the sentence. --Usernameunique (talk) 22:20, 27 August 2017 (UTC)
