Edgar Allen Poe Newcomb

edit
  • ... that Edgar Allen Poe sang bass? Source: "Basses: E. A. P. Newcomb" ([1]) as noted in the article, Edgar Allen Poe Newcomb was also known as E. A. P. Newcomb
    • ALT1:... that ...? Source: "You are strongly encouraged to quote the source text supporting each hook" (and [link] the source, or cite it briefly without using citation templates)
  • Reviewed:
  • Comment: Using "Edgar Allen Poe" in the DYK is COMPLETELY misleading, as readers will assume the article is about the author, not the architect. David notMD (talk) 21:06, 27 November 2017 (UTC)

  • This is nonsense, according to the article, he wasn't known as Edgar Allen Poe so the hook is incorrect. I know it's trying to be fun but it's simply ... not. The Rambling Man (talk) 23:40, 27 November 2017 (UTC)
I beg your pardon! Please see Source #2. The newspaper used his full name. He was also known as E. A. P. Newcomb. And like the article says, he was also known as Edgar A. P. Newcomb. Both he and the media used whichever version was convenient at the time. — Maile (talk) 23:47, 27 November 2017 (UTC)
So he was never known as "Edgar Allen Poe" then? The Rambling Man (talk) 23:55, 27 November 2017 (UTC)
